(I'm really excited for this arch! Its called the Unity arch and is SIX parts and the chapters are kinda long!!!)
"We can't get out. The Wen's blocked the only entrance," Jin ZiXuan sighed.
"So we're trapped in here with that monster and without food?" A disciple panicked.
Lan WangJi cleared his throat, "There's a way out,"
"What?" Wei WuXian looked at him surprised.
"The maple leaves in the pond," Lan WangJi informed.
Wei WuXian realized, "I see, there's no maple trees in the cave, but there were maple trees outside near the river!"
"Meaning, the water must've carried the leaves in here, which gives the idea that there's a hole somewhere at the bottom," Jiang Cheng finished.
"But how will we know if that hole is big enough for people to use?" Lan Xichen asked.
"A-Cheng and I can swim to search," Wei WuXian suggested.
Jiang Cheng glanced at the burn on his brother's chest, "No, wait here. I'll check,"
And before Wei WuXian could argue, Jiang Cheng walked over to the pond and dove in silently. Wei WuXian squeaked in fear, turning his eyes to where the monster's shell was poking out from the water. He gripped Lan WangJi's sleeve tightly, glancing between the shell and the place his brother had just dove in, "A-Cheng, come on..."
"He'll be okay, shixiong," Gu BingWen assured.
"I know, but I can't help but worry," Wei WuXian admitted.
Lan WangJi gave the younger's waist a comforting squeeze. They all turned when they heard a gasp of air, Wei WuXian running over to his brother who climbed out of the pond, everyone following after him.
"There's a hole. Five or six people can make it through," Jiang Cheng informed, coughing out some water.
As he did that, there was a rumble and the sound of water moving. Everyone froze, staring at the monster who raised its head again and snapped to one of the dead Wen soldiers laying on the ground. Grabbing the dead man by the leg and sinking back into the water.
Many of the disciples looked sick.
"Alright, everyone listen up," Wei WuXian was about to order, but Jiang Cheng cut him off, "A-Xian, I know what you're about to say, but there's no way everyone will be able to get through without alerting the monster,"
Wei WuXian opened his mouth, but Lan WangJi stopped him, "You are NOT staying behind to distract it,"
"Well then what do we do!?" Wei WuXian deflated, 'it's so much harder to win arguments with these two now! I really have been an awful influence that now they can both counter me! How awful!'
"First, let's find somewhere to rest," Lan Xichen cut in glancing at the group, "Some of us are injured due to the Wen's and our spiritual energy needs to replenish,"
"This way," Lan WangJi ordered, taking Wei WuXian's hand and guiding them, "And grab the weapons,"
Not too far from the pond, but safe from the monster was a small gap in between the stones. Lan WangJi entered first, followed by Wei WuXian and then the four heirs of the gentry sects. Seeing them all walk inside, the other disciples easily filed in. The room wasn't too large, but it was just enough. Disciples all huddled in small groups, sitting down against the wall or around the room. Wei WuXian looked around the area, seeing Jiang Cheng shiver slightly due to the wet water. He suddenly pulled away from Lan WangJi and ran out of the cave, alarming everyone.
