The shadow fairy let out a sigh of relief as she felt Sky shifting in her arms, a groan leaving his lips as one hand moved to massage his head.

"Well, good morning sleeping beauty," Vienna joked as she helped the boy sit up. "Did you have a nice nap?"

"Piss off," he muttered with a hint of a smile as he lightly shoved her, causing the girl to laugh out in response. She quickly moved to her feet, sliding her knife back into place as she stared down at the blonde boy, who was still massaging his temple.

"What the hell happened?" Vie finally questioned as he pulled himself to his feet. "What did you say to Bloom that made her drug you?"

Vienna followed as Sky began to walk away from the Stone Circle, her brows furrowed together as she waited for him to speak.

"Well, first I told her that Silva had sent me to spy on her."

Vienna aggressively punched him in the arm, an action she had been doing a lot lately. "Do you have brain damage?" she questioned, walking twice as fast to keep up with Sky's long strides. "How did you think that would work? No wonder she drugged you."

"I thought telling her the truth would make her trust me," he stated with a sigh, slowing down slightly and allowing the girl to keep up. "Has Silva told you about Aster Dell?"

Shock rippled through the girl, her movements momentarily freezing, but she immediately shook it off. Sky hadn't seemed to notice the change in the girl.

"Uh yeah, he told me this morning, actually."

He stopped walking and fully turned to face her. "What did he say?"

"I'm not telling you anything until you tell me what Bloom told you." The girl crossed her arms and stared at him, a brow raised as she waited for a response.

He sighed softly. "She told me that they killed Burned Ones there. Even though there were innocent lives present in the village."

Vienna scoffed at him. "And you believe her? Do you really think my father, of all people, would have allowed that to happen?"

Sky threw his hands in the air exasperatedly. "I don't know, honestly. All I know is that he's been hiding something from me. It could be about Aster Dell, it could be about something else. I don't know."

Vienna stilled slightly, knowing fully well what her father was hiding from him. But she couldn't reveal that piece of information. It wasn't her place.

The two of them continued to walk in silence for a few minutes, before Vienna spoke again. "Dowling and Harvey didn't know," she began. "Rosalind, their mentor, assured them that the innocent villagers had been evacuated, and that's the only reason why they unleashed their magic on Aster Dell. My dad had been running to warn them, but he was too late."

"Why wouldn't he just tell me that," he sighed. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"It's not something that just pops up in conversation," she shrugged as they finally reached the academy walls and entered the specialist wing. "Did Bloom say anything useful?"

"Other than going on about how she wasn't the bad guy and what she was doing was for the best?"

Vie simply rolled her eyes. "I knew I should have gone instead. You're useless."

The blonde pretended to gasp in shock. "How dare you. I guess you don't wanna know about the magical metal disc thing then."

The girl furrowed her brows. "What disc? What did it look like? What did it do?"

"I have no idea what it does. It seemed to be made of brass, and had intricate details on it. Had these gemstones around it which glowed."

"I've never heard of it," she revealed. "I'll have to ask Dowling about it."

The two of them stopped walking for a moment and Sky leaned against the wall, his fingers moving back to his temples to massage them slowly.

"Well, you look like shit," a new voice spoke, and Vienna rolled her eyes when she realised it was Riven who was approaching them.

"Well, I feel like it, so it makes sense," Sky sassed.

"Yeah, well, Terra the super spy got Dane to spill," the boy spoke, very briefly eyeing Vienna. She could only smirk in response as he failed to meet her gaze. "He said Bloom went out there to do something with a magic key, and I couldn't reach you, so-"

"Where's Dane?" Vienna cut off.

"He's gearing up," the boy responded as he shoved Sky's sheathed sword into his chest.

"Please tell me Beatrix is-"

"She's still locked up," Riven cut off, "but we've got bigger problems."

"Riven, what the hell is going on?"

For the first time, Vienna saw a serious expression of concern on Riven's face. "Silva needs us at the barrier."

The two boys began to quickly move towards the exit, but Sky turned when he realised Vienna wasn't following him.

"Aren't you coming?"

"I should probably stay here and figure out what's going on with Bloom," she said with a nod. "Stay safe."

"I will."

Without another word the boy hurried after Riven, and Vienna turned on her heels to walk to her room. She decided she'd feel a lot safer if she had two swords across her back instead of only having her two knives.

Who knew what sort of nasty surprises awaited them today.
