New beginning

"River Woodburt!" A man yells out. I got up out of my seat, feeling everybody's eyes on me. I made my way to the stage and stood in front of the 5 bowls. Coals for Dauntless. Graystones for Abnegation. Water for Erudite. Soil for Amity. And glass for Candor. I grabbed the knife and made a nice clean cut across my hand palm. Letting a droplet of blood drip on the coals. "DAUNTLESS!" The man yells out. The Dauntless cheer as I make my way to my new faction. Finally free.

We all ran towards the train tracks, pushing past people that were in our way. Dauntless members climbed up onto the train platform. I did the same. I pulled myself up onto the platform with ease. As the train approached us, Dauntless-born started jumped in. I ran alongside the train before I grabbed the handle and swung myself in with ease, landing perfectly straight on my feet.

"Not too bad, stiff," a Dauntless-born said to me, as he patted me on my back.

I looked around to see members staring at me, one guy caught my eye. He was tall, had dirty blond hair, and had a lot of tattoos. Handsome to say the least. People started pointing and talking about me as if I wasn't there. I decided to shut them up."What?! Never seen a girl jump on a train," I said, crossing my arms over each other. They stopped talking and continued their own conversation. I heard a small chuckle come from the handsome guy. He was clearly amused by the situation.

I glanced out of the train to see an Amity girl struggling to keep up. I sighed before reaching my arm out for her. She grabs ahold of it and I pull her inside. She opened her mouth, wanting to say something. But before she could, I shut her up by raising my index finger. She understood my gesture and looked down at the floor before walking away.

"They're jumping!" I heard an Erudite boy say. And sure enough, the Dauntless-born were jumping out of the moving train, onto a roof. A loud gasp was heard among the scared transfers. I took a few steps back before jumping out of the train. I landed in a squat-like position, extending one hand in front of me to stop me from falling over. I brush my hand off on my shirt. I never wore the clothes Abnegation had. They were unpractical and really ugly, something I wouldn't wear that was for sure. I wore a simple grey t-shirt with an ugly grey cardigan over it, paired with my black fake leather jeans. We fought a lot about what I wore back home if you can even call it home.

I look up to see the dauntless born gathered around a man on the ledge of the roof. It's the same man that I saw on the train. He was around seventeen or eighteen years old. His blond hair was shaved at the sides, he had blue eyes. He has a piercing above his right eyebrow and spikes in his ears. His black vest showed his toned biceps while tattoos cover both of his forearms. Two tattoos peeking out from underneath his top, trailing up to his jawline. Yes, he is attractive.

"All right listen up. I'm Eric, one of your leaders," he says, observing the transfers. "If you want to enter Dauntless, this is the way in. And if you don't have the guts to jump, then you don't belong in Dauntless," he gestures behind him before turning back to us. "There is something down there, right?" An Erudite boy asks him. "I guess you will find out," Eric said with a small evil grin. "Or not," he added. "Well, someones gotta go first. Who is going to be?" He asks us. Tension increased among the transfers. Everybody was too scared to move or say anything. Disappointed in the group, I sighed. Without saying anything, I walked towards the ledge. Everybody's eyes were on me. "I better make this good," I thought to myself. I stepped on the ledge, taking off my cardigan, throwing it on the ground. I heard a few people gasp in shock, my arms were covered in bruises and handprints, but I didn't care. I jumped down before anybody could say anything. I landed in a net as I had expected. They wouldn't let their new transfers jump to their death. They may be the Dauntless, but that would be stupid.

Someone tugs on the net, making me roll towards them. It's a young guy, with brown eyes and short brown hair. I grunt as he lifts me off the net. The bruises on my ribs stinging at the sudden pressure. He looks at me confused as he puts me on the ground. "Name?" He asks me while looking at my arms. "River," I answer bluntly. "First jumper, River!" he yells over his shoulder. People clap and cheer, as he did. I make my way over to the group as someone else falls in the net.

Once everybody was here, the guy from the net started speaking. "Dauntless born stay with Lauren, transfers stay with me, go," all the Dauntless born start moving towards the blond lady. "Most of the time I stay in intelligence but during your training. I will be your instructor," He said while looking from transfer to transfer. "My name is Four," It was a nice name, I liked it.

"Four like the number?" A Candor girl asks. I rolled my eyes at her comment. They really need to learn how to shut up. "Exactly like the number," Four answers, clearly annoyed at her comment. "What happened 1....2....3 were already taken?" she asked him, amused by her own comment. Four gave her an annoyed smirk before asking her, "what's your name?" "Caley," she answers him. Four stepped closer to her, looking down at her. Making her eyes go wide.

"Well, Caley. The first lesson you're going to learn from me if you want to survive here. Is keep your MOUTH SHUT," She looked down at her feet. "Do you understand me?" He asked her. "Yes," She said, barely whispering. "Good," Four said sternly.

"Follow me," He said, walking away from us. He showed us around the pit and to our bunkers.
