Y/n's POV

A week passed and things were slowly becoming a new normal. Everyone was keeping to themselves and keeping themselves busy. We had all lost someone close to us and it was hard. But me and Nat were finding better ways to cope together. It was a Saturday night and we decided to go on a little date to take our mind off the low environment in the compound. We had put on our leather jackets, packed a few snacks in my backpack and set off. It was about 11pm and it was dark. We snuck down to the car park and got onto Nat's motor bike. It was all black with a comfortable leather seat. Nat swung her leg over it and I got on behind her. I shuffled closer and wrapped my arms tight around her stomach. "Hold on tight." She smiled before speeding out of the car park into the open air. We headed away from the compound and towards the Brooklyn bridge. We sped and swerved between cars. It was exhilarating! The feel of the wind in my hair and the warmth of Nat's body. The roar of the large motorbike engine made it more exciting. Occasionally she would check up on me telepathically to see if I was doing alright.

We got to the bridge and dumped our bike, Nat clicked the button that put the bike in stealth mode which made it invisible. Nat turned to me and jumped into my arms. She wrapped her arms around my neck and her legs around my waist. She held on tightly and I pushed off the ground with my powers. I flew us up to the top of the bridge and gently set us down. Nat unstuck herself from me and looked around. We were high over the traffic and had a gorgeous view of the city and it's twinkling lights. "This is no summers night in Cornwall with the gentle stream or soft rain but it's definitely a good contender for my top 10 nights." Nat sighed, turning to take in even more of the view. I took a seat with my legs dangling over the edge of the stone arch. Nat sat beside me, wrapping her arm around my shoulder and pulling me close. I snuggled into her as we watched the world pass on. I sighed, looking at how much the traffic had decreased. The bridge used to be bustling with life no matter what time of day, but now it was much quieter. "Can I ask you something that has been on my mind for a little while." Nat questioned hesitantly. I nodded my head and hummed a positive response. "When you were dopey on morphine. Do you remember what we spoke about?" She began stroking my hair. I thought hard for a moment trying to recall that night. Parts of it began to come back to me but mostly it was a blur.

"Partially. Why do you ask?"

"Well you said something, something potentially kind of important. And I... I just wanted to know if you meant it or if it was just the painkillers."

"What was it?" I asked, not having any recall of the potentially important thing I had said.

"You... you said you wanted us to have a baby. Like adopting a little girl." She sounded hesitant and nervous.

"Oh." I mumbled.

"Yeah, that's what I thought. The drugs did make you a little coo coo." She tried to put on a fake laugh. I took my head off her chest and looked up at her.

"Natasha..."

"Yes?" She asked, frowning more now. I took a deep breath.

"You know, people say that drunk words are sober thoughts. Well that's the same case for morphine." I muttered, looking down at the traffic below. I was too nervous to meet her gaze.

"Oh." She said, and her tone almost sounded like she was smiling. I turned to look at her and she was... smiling.

"Sorry. I didn't want to say anything because I didn't want to make things awkward or weird if you thought it was a stupid idea. And I know it's totally random but the idea has been brewing since we visited Clint. But then we got caught up with Thanos and it all just popped out my brain. I had forgotten about it, but clearly high on morphine me had not." I said quickly with a hint of nervous laughter.

"Well, if it makes you feel any better. I would love to." She smiled, beamed in fact.

"Really?!" I said back in reply, my eyes lighting up in shock. She laughed and nodded.

"Yes Y/n. I, at some point in the near ish future. I want us to have a baby. A daughter." She pulled me closer again and I hugged her tight.

"That's, that's. Just wow! I really expected you to just say no, especially with the world flipped upside down and the fact that we are always in dangerous situations and you know-"

"It's a blip Y/n. A new world." She moved her arms out as if showing me landscape in front of us. "And the new world might just be crazy enough to make this a perfect idea."

I hugged her tight again and she kissed the top of my head. Happiness swelled inside of me. But our hug was interrupted by the sound of a swirling noise. We looked around to see a drone flying behind up. I used my powers to break it and throw the pieces back to the floor. "Fucking paparazzi. It's a bit rude to crash our super expensive date don't you think?" I joked and Nat nodded. We opened the bottle of wine we had brought with us and the box of chocolates.

We sat for an hour and a half before returning to the ground and driving home. When we got home everyone had gone to bed but neither me nor Nat were tired. We sat in the kitchen in silence. I could tell that Nat was thinking. I titled my head to look at her and she looked up to meet my gaze. "Tell me." I said with puppy dog eyes.

"Everytime we come back it just makes me remember who's gone. Also I tried to contact Clint again and he's not picking up. I know he didn't blip because I spoke to him the day after to explain. But now he's... he's just not answering." She sniffed.

"Oh. Well maybe he's busy? Or he's struggling because his family went didn't they?"

She nodded. "Well best not to worry right now ay? How about we get a hot chocolate and go and watch a film in bed?" I smiled and she agreed. There was nothing we could do, just wait to see if Thanos was anywhere out there, or struggle with the facts and learn to move on. The world had changed, the game was flipped and we now just needed to learn how to navigate the new board.
