"So - So tell me. You're the expert on these 'things'. What's, uh, what's a guy gotta know?" Chris is the first to speak between the three.

"You just be careful. You follow my lead." Is the response he gets.

"So, how many times to I have to shoot it with this shotgun before it's dead?" The teenager continues, looking down at the weapon that held heavy in his hands.

"Well you'd be shooting a long time."

"You mean that thing won't even kill it?" (Y/N) asks in disbelief, her arms wrapped around herself for warmth. She still had blood dried from both Jessica and Mike stained across her winter attire.

"No... but it'll slow it down."

"Well how do you kill it?" She presses and he looks back at her trailing behind slightly. "They don't like fire."

Chris chuckles at the simple stupidity of the statement. "I don't like fire-"

"They fear it, and it can kill them if you have to. See their skin is like... it's like tough armor unless you burn it off first."

(Y/N) grimaces, watching her boots make imprints on the crisp white. "That's gross."

"What are these things like? I mean, are they just crazy unpredictable or can you figure out what they're gonna do?" Chris clarifies his question.

"Well, they adhere to some patterns, like any animal or human." The man explains, keeping up a quick pace for them to follow.

"Wh- You mean, like how? Like they've got schedules?" The blonde half-heartedly jokes.

"Well, they only hunt at night."

"Oh. Why?"

(Y/N) rolls her eyes at the question. "Chris, sweetie I don't think he stuck around to ask them." He looks at her, his mouth opening in realisation to what he said.

"Any, uh, pro Wendigo tips? Like if I rub garlic all over me they won't be able to smell me or something?" He continues and the man laughs.

"They'll still smell you."

"I think he meant anything like that?" (Y/N) speaks, annoyance laced in the tone at the idiocy of the pair.

"They can't see you if you're standing still. It's like toads... sight is based on changes of movement in their field of vision." The stranger informs them.

"So if we don't move, we're basically invisible."

"Yeah, well, I wouldn't recommend testing it out, unless you have no other choice." He offers.

They arrive at the shed, stopping at the entry and (Y/N) bumps into Chris slightly at the sudden stop. She moves past to find Josh's stool empty and broken.

"He's gone. We're too late." She breathes out and Chris checks further in.

The adult was on high alert and his head snaps towards them. "Shh! Quiet! We gotta go. Right now." He grits his teeth and Chris rejoins him, shaking his head.

"We gotta find Josh, he could still be out there!"

"Ha! First, the Wendigo, he'll render you immobile. And then he strips the skin of your entire body, piece by piece. And then he keeps you alive and aware and feasts on your organs, one piece at a time."

(Y/N)'s eyes are wide, eyebrows raised and she blows out the cold air. "So, the Lodge, then." She suggests.

"Let's go now. It might still be near!" He warns and steadily heads out. Chris follows and (Y/N) looks at the stool, sorrowful: "Sorry, Josh."

The man and Chris had stopped and he holds out his arm once she comes out. "Wait!  Don't move."

The trio stay still, keeping their breathing shallow and (Y/N)'s eyes dart around. The stranger suddenly steps out into the open, indicating with his hand.

"Run! Go, now, now!" He yells.

A hunchbacked monster, with their canine teeth and slender, long limbs jumps in front of them. The taut skin disgusts the teenagers: "Holy shit, what the fuck!"

The Stranger aiming his flamethrower at the Wendigo, fire spouting across the air. "Back! Back!" He calls and Chris grabs (Y/N), pulling her back with him.

"We're right out in the open, we gotta get out of here!" The man shouts but a Wendigo lunges at him, swiping its nails across its neck.

(Y/N) screams at the sight of his body falling to its knees, the head dropping to the side. Crimson paints the white and she grips her friend, who was just in as much shock: "Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!"

"Oh shit, Chris!" She directs his attention to the creature in the bushes and he fires, shooting it back.

"Go, (Y/N)!" He orders, placing a hand on her back to push her forward. She stumbles over her own feet, looking back at the nature doused in flames.

Ducking under a tree branch, he stops in front of her and turns back, shooting another. (Y/N) drops down the ledge, looking up and hurrying her friend. He follows, landing awkwardly on his foot and making him cry out.

"Chris, come on, we gotta go!" She says, pressing him to go on.

Chris shoots their way through to the door and (Y/N) hits the door. Ashley is quick to open it up, Mike behind her with fear in his eyes.

"Oh my God!" He exclaims at the pair of them and Chris shuts it back over, backing into Ashley.

"(Y/N)! Chris! Oh my God, what happened?" She questions and (Y/N) falls herself into Mike's arms, breathing heavily.

"We gotta go, that thing was like right behind us -" She begins when the Wendigo reaches the door and jumps towards it, frightening them all.

"Come on." Mike mutters, wrapping his arms around (Y/N) and leading the three downstairs.
