The Story of Kaiden and Lilac

"You have cancer?" He asked and I nodded my head.

"I got diagnosed with lung cancer 5 years ago. I had chemotherapy, it didn't really help even though it got better for a while. But just a few days ago it came back even worse." I told him sniffling my cries.

Why did you tell him, idiot?! He's going to tell your mom.

"Please don't tell my mom," I begged him.

"I would never sunshine." He replied and kissed my head.

"I don't want to die, Kaiden," I told him.

"You won't Lilac." He responded.

"Yes I will but it's okay because I can still do so many things before then. Like, try nachos." I told him.

"I'll buy you nachos if that's what you want." He said to me.

"Stop it," I replied.

"Stop what?" He asked

"You can't baby me now that you know about my cancer. You have to treat me like how you did the first day you met me." I told him.

"Deal. Let's get back to class so you can get a proper education." He said and grabbed my hand.

We went back to class and I was much happier.

"Can I braid your hair?" I asked Kaiden.

"Sure Lilac." He replied and tilted his head back.

The teacher was lecturing and didn't really care what we were doing.

I have trouble focusing.

My morning classes ended and now I had lunch.

I am so hungry. I haven't eaten in weeks.

We went to the lunch line and to be honest the food did not look like...it slapped. I used a new word!

They gave me mac and cheese and french fries.

Okay so maybe I was quick to judge.

"Hey bitches!" Raphael yelled as they jumped onto the lunch table seat.

I still don't know what a bitches is.

"What are we doing today?" Raphi asked.

"Lilac is going to write a bucket list and we're going to help her accomplish it all." Kaiden said.

"Wait what?" I asked.

"Sign me up but it better be fun Li," Raphael told me.

"Okay but quick question. What is a bucket list?" I asked.

We spent the whole lunch going over basic terms like a bucket list, homicide (Kaiden taught me that), throwing it back, etc.

Throwing it back sounds fun, I should learn how to do it.

School ended and I was waiting for Kaiden and Raphael to get out of class.

"Lilac, you want to come over to my house?" Kaid asked me.

Hmm...

"Let me check if they're home," I said and opened the find my friends app.

My parents were at work and wouldn't be home until late at night.

"Okay!" I said and got on his motorcycle.
