It was a Saturday morning, Amy was having breakfast with her dad. She kept stealing glances at her dad, going over the story she made up in her head, hoping he won't get suspicious.

'You can do this, Amy.' She mentally said to herself, praying she doesn't blow her cover.

"Um. Dad?" She began, picking up a slice of bacon from her plate with her fork and feeding it to her dad.

"Princess, you've barely touched your meal."

"I'm on a diet." She lied, when in reality she was a bit hungry. She couldn't touch her meal because she was nervous. She felt her dad would be able to read through her.

"Since when are you on a diet?" Her dad asked with an amused look on his face.

"Since this morning."

"Oh really!... And what's the reason for this sudden decision?"

"I, uh. I noticed I've become too lazy to move around and I don't like it."

"I have a better option."

"What's that?"

"You can make use of the gym... Seriously, Amy. I'm sure you don't even know what the place looks like."

Amy grimaced the moment her dad made mention of the gym. There is an indoor gym in the mansion, where her dad does his workout whenever he was free, but she disliked the place because it does nothing but get one exhausted and sweaty, eww!

"I'll stick to my option. Thank you very much." She replied, still shuddering at the thought of sweaty bodies.

Henry laughed in amusement at the attitude of his daughter towards anything sporty. He sometimes wonders how a child of his wasn't at all interested in sports. He guess she got that from her mother.

"Dad, I was wondering if I could spend the weekend at mom's place?" Amy decided to bring up the conversation now that her dad was in a good mood.

"Why? Is something wrong?" Henry asked. He was concerned about Paula. Even though they were divorced, she is the mother of his only child, so he doesn't want anything bad happening to her because Amy would be devastated if something happens to her mom.

Amy shook her head, taking a sip from her glass of orange juice. She hopes this conversation won't take long because she wouldn't be able to answer so many questions, as she didn't prepare herself for such a possibility.

Henry relaxed a bit after that, but he couldn't help but wonder why she suddenly decides to spend the weekend at her mom's place. She usually tells him a week ahead of time whenever she wants to go over to her mom's.

"It's not like I don't want you to go, but... Why all of a sudden?" He decided to ask.

"It's, uh. It's nothing serious... I promised to visit often, that's all." Amy hoped that sounded convincing.

"If that's the case, why were you being reluctant to ask?"

'There it goes. Amy, you really need to work on your lying skills cos you're going to be needing it. What were you thinking? That he wasn't going to notice?' she mentally scolded herself, already thinking of an excuse to come up with.

"It's... I just thought that, maybe you had plans for this weekend, so I didn't want to hurt your feelings." She explained in a quiet voice.

"Way to go, Amy! That was smooth.' she praised herself when she noticed a warm smile appear on her dad's face.

"That is very thoughtful of you.." Henry said, taking Amy's small hand in his large one.

"..But, you're an adult now. You don't need my permission for anything, especially when it has to do with your mom." Henry continued, taking Amy by surprise.

"Thank you so much, dad. I love you." She exclaimed in excitement, leaving her chair to give her dad a big hug.

"I love you too, my angel... But, this doesn't mean you're allowed to keep late nights or do drugs." He said into the hug, using his serious tone of voice to make his point clear.

"Noted, dad." Amy gave her dad her word before returning to her seat and digging into her breakfast.

"I thought you were on a diet?" Henry couldn't hide the confusion in his voice.

"I'll begin tomorrow." She replied with a cute puppy dog face, earning a chuckle from her dad.

"Good morning." His breathtaking voice greeted, causing Amy to choke on her pancake.

"Are you okay, princess?... Here." Henry handed his daughter a glass of water while rubbing her back, to help ease her coughing fit.

Bryan had a worried look on his face. He hoped this wasn't his fault.

Amy was blushing furiously. She felt like hiding under the table, away from Bryan and her dad. This is so embarrassing. She didn't even dare glance at Bryan because she just acted so immature. He'd probably be regretting by now why he asked her to be his girlfriend.

"Princess, are you feeling better?"

Amy gave a small nod as she was too embarrassed to speak.

"Are you sure?" Bryan added, speaking up for the first time.

Amy could tell that he was worried and wanted her to assure him that she was okay.

"The food just entered the wrong pipe, that's all... There's no need to worry, I'm fine." She quietly replied and quickly glanced at Bryan before looking away.

"I'll be in my room." She then said, standing up from her seat. She didn't want to make things even more awkward.

"But, you haven't finished your breakfast." Henry's confused, yet concerned voice said.

"I'll have some snacks in my room" Amy replied and headed upstairs without a backward glance.
