"Is that what you're all worried about? Making sure we eat things we like?" shouted Sasha in the middle of the living room.
Sam looked up from where she was watching Caleb who was busy tearing a paper towel alongside Judith on the carpet.
Sasha was looking around frantically, obviously shaken and distressed, her breathing was labored as she turned to leave and quickly left the room. A heavy silence settled, Sam exchanged a few glances with Maggie who was chatting with Noah on the other side of the room before turning back to the children who were laughing at Tara as she shook another towel in front of their faces, not disturbed by the event.
Deanna was chatting with Rick and Carl in front of the fireplace, Sam looked away when she saw them turning to her as Deanna pointed to the painting that was hanging on the wall representing the Monroe family. Sam could hear a few snippets of the conversation as Deanna explained who was the creator, Sam did her best to hide under her hair, but she caught a look from the young Grimes, who watched her with a thoughtful look on his face.
Caleb then began to cry lightly, he clutched in his mouth the toy on which he used to teeth on, his cheeks were now all red. "Shh, it's okay. Oh I know it hurts" Sam tried to soothe Caleb by taking him against her to rock him a bit and gently stroking his hair. Seeing him start to get more and more upset she walked over to Maggie.
"I think I'm going to go home soon, he must be getting tired and his few growing teeth are giving him a hard time" Sam explained as she pulled the baby up onto her hip.
"We were about to go home too anyway, don't worry about it, just get Caleb to bed. It was nice to see you and meet him" Maggie smiled.
After a quick walk to say goodbye Sam stepped out into the cool evening air. She looked around for Sasha, worried about whether her panic attack had subsided, but didn't see her anywhere.
Sam decided to take a longer walk, banking on the walk to calm Caleb, whose crying was starting to subside a bit.
"...Starry, starry night
Flaming flowers that brightly blaze
Swirling clouds in violet haze
Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue"
Sam stopped singing when she saw the house at the end of the street, Caleb was now asleep, his head wedged between Sam's neck and shoulder, She was relieved to know that the pain had finally passed.
Sam gently turned the door handle so as not to make any sudden movements and walked into the house, she could hear noise in the dining room. Without looking she took off her shoes in the hallway and whispered to her friends.
"He fell asleep just before we got home, I'll put him to..." Sam suspended her sentence as her gaze fell on Eric, Aaron and finally Daryl who was seated around the table. "Oh sorry I didn't know we had a guest! Hi Daryl !" Sam said still whispering.
