Jace felt as if he was going to vomit as the chains wrapped around his neck and were pulled taut and Sebastian dragged him across the ground. He coughed and spluttered as he tried to pull on the cold metal of the chains that were slippery with his blood, but he still couldn't get enough air as Jonathan hauled him across the uneven planks of a bridge.

"You'll make an excellent trophy to present Father with," he spat as he stopped for a mere second and threw the chains over one of the overhead metal support beams and Jace's lungs gushed with air before it was taken away just as quickly.

Sebastian pulled on the chains, hanging Jace from the rafters, an evil grin on his face that stayed as Jace laughed.

"Lack of oxygen getting to your brain, is it?" he asked with a smile as Jace grunted, hands trying to pull the chains for any little bit of air he could get, any little bit of space between his neck and the metal.

"He left you," Jace strained. "He's probably not coming back."

Sebastian pulled harder as Jace choked.

"My father is a man of his word," Sebastian defended.

"He made you spaghetti too."

Jace groaned as his face began to turn red.

"He'll be back for me. He will," Sebastian said, mostly trying to convince himself.

"No. He abandoned you. Again. He came back for me though. It kinda makes me the favourite son, doesn't it?" Jace gasped and Sebastian squashed his jaw in his hand.

"If you are trying to goad me into a fight," he began with a snarl before dropping the chains and letting Jace crash to the floor as he coughed and swallowed air.

"IT IS WORKING!"

Jace was still heaving as Sebastian took up a stance a few paces away, drawing his seraph blade and Jace hauled himself to his feet.

"Care to find out who's the best JC after all?" he asked as he tossed away the chains and drew his own blade.

"It would be my absolute delight," Sebastian smiled, and the boys lunged.

After swiping, slashing and dodging eventually both boys pressed their blades together with as much strength as they had.

"You know from the second I heard about her, I've always been somewhat infatuated with your sister."

"Leave her out of this," Jace growled as he pushed Sebastian off him, and the boy smiled.

"Why would a Shadowhunter of such beauty and power, risk it all for the Downworld, for those parasites? And over time I realised, her time with our father, like Clary, only made her heart grow while ours shrunk."

"Don't talk about her!" Jace yelled as he lashed out again only for his sword to eventually meet Sebastian's again as they pressed them against each other.

"Why? Don't want to hear about all the times Serena smiled at me, congratulated me on a job well done and shook my hand? About the times when her skin touched mine? About how I kissed her in the infirmary?"

Jace cried out as he headbutted Sebastian, making his nose gush blood before kicking the boy in the chest.

But Sebastian had already managed to impale his blade in Jace's side before being knocked on his back.

A waterfall of blood erupted from his mouth as he collapsed to his knees, Sebastian sauntering over as he harshly withdrew his blade from Jace's side, the boy collapsing.

"I wonder, have you stopped blathering on because I just, punctured your lung?" he wondered as he dug the tip of his seraph blade into Jace's wound, the boy groaning out in pain as he lay on his back, seraph blade knocked far from his reach.

"A shame, I won't get to show you that spot that father taught me on a man's back, where you can puncture the heart and the spine at the same time. But at least now you realise, and soon Serena will, that I have always been better than you!" he growled as he raised his blade into the air.

But it never came down as Izzy's whip wrapped around his hand and knocked the blade down.

"Stay away from him you son of a bitch!" she yelled as she brandished her whip, cracking it on the steel beams on the bridge.

"Well, I suppose this won't be a fair fight, then, will it?" he asked demonically.

"You didn't seem to have a problem when you took a run at my baby brother," Izzy shot back and her next whip crack split Sebastian's cheek open.

"I trusted you when I was at my weakest, at my lowest. I brought you into my life, into my family and you betrayed me!" she yelled at him before cracking the whip again, only for Sebastian to catch it.

"I saved your life, that should be worth something," he growled as his hands burned from the electrum.

"That's why I'm giving you a more honourable death than you deserve," Izzy retorted.

Izzy struggled to hold on as Sebastian pulled before the sound of a blade flying rang through the air and a sleek throwing dagger impaled itself into Sebastian's shoulder, forcing him to let go of the whip.

"GET AWAY FROM THEM!" Serena screamed from the other end of the bridge, as a white wave raced for Sebastian, and he held his burned hands to his ears as the blonde raced across the bridge.

That burst had been all she could muster with her voice still healing but it was enough to disorient Sebastian as Izzy's whip wrapped around him, pinning his arms to his sides as his skin sizzled beneath his clothes.

And Serena's sword went through Sebastian's torso.

"That spot on a man's back, father taught us too," she said lowly from behind him as Sebastian gagged on his own blood and Izzy dropped her whip and Serena withdrew her blade, only after twisting it and eliciting more groans from Sebastian.

She had been about to move towards her brother before Sebastian tried to run at her and she spun, landing a roundhouse kick to his face and sending him flying off the bridge and into the river below.

"That's for kissing me," she muttered.

Alec and Clary ran onto the bridge as Serena dropped to Jace's side, the boy still awake as he'd already activated his iratze rune without his stele.

"How did you know what he did?" Jace wheezed as she put pressure on his wound, waiting for it to heal, Alec drooping down too.

"You didn't delete the footage JJ," she answered with a smirk. "But don't worry, I'm not mad you kept it from me."

"Are you ok?" Alec asked his wife, even though his parabatai was still bleeding on the ground.

Serena pecked his lips.

"Now that he's dead, I'm fine."

Both boys laughed breathlessly before they all helped each other to their feet.

"Hail and farewell," Izzy spat as they watched Sebastian's body float down the river, the water around him turning red with blood.

And Jonathan was dead.

Or so they thought.
