Family-a cursed word indeed.

Family.

The word holds different meanings for everyone.

For some, it holds sorrow. Something they can't ever attain, or if they do have it, something they'd rather not have.

For some, it holds anger. Something that they despise more than anything in the world.

For some, it means happiness. Something they can always run to. Something they trust.

For some, it means love.

For Tommy, the word means everything.

He never had a family, the closest thing he had was a best friend that always stood by his side, and an adult that found him one day when he was younger.

Of course, things have changed throughout the years.

That man he once claimed was his brother is now dead and gone, replaced by a psychopath that destroyed everything he built.

Including the relationship he had with the now teenager.

And the best friend distanced himself throughout the years, with the mixture of Tommy's exile and being trapped in the prison not too long afterwards.

He grew up. He had a husband. He had a kid.

So in the blondes eyes, he was alone.

Without even a trace of a family.

Growing up, Techno never really had anyone to call his 'family'. The closest he had was a boy he knew so many years ago, and his father that cared for both of the boys, including the half-piglin that wasn't even his own son.

Even when others mistakenly called them a family, he always corrected them.

"They're my friends," He'd say, "I don't consider them my family."

Then came the kid.

Well, kids, he should say.

He was never good with kids, mostly due to the fact that he was almost always around those about his age or older.

So when Wilbur called him for help during Schlatts reign, he didn't know what to do when he saw that his two allies at the time were children.

Granted, they were teenagers, but still. The oldest they could've been at the time was sixteen. And they claimed that they've known Wilbur for years.

Hell, they were even co-founders of L'manburg, and they oldest they could've been at that time was twelve.

But, shockingly, Techno found himself getting quickly attached to the boys. They clung to him almost like a child would to their older sibling.

It was kind of sad.

He knew that getting emotionally attached to something or someone was a bad idea. It shown weakness, and as a warrior, he couldn't afford to do that.

Yet, he did. Not just once, but three times.

And twice now, it came back to bite him in the ass.

Schlatt knew that the half-piglin was attached to Tubbo, so he knew why he was forced to kill the kid.

He still didn't like it.

Warrior or not, he was still only one man. Even if he had backup, it still wouldn't help.

Months later, Tommy arrived at his doorstep, all panicked and scared. The warrior was hesitant, knowing their past, but he let the kid stay.

And he got attached again. Even more so now.

The kid even called him his brother at one point.

Which didn't help at all.

So when the kid betrayed him, of course he was upset. No, not just upset, he was livid.

He never cried during battle.
He didn't cry when he was forced to kill Tubbo.
He didn't cry when he was executed.
He never cried.

But he did cry then, confronting the two teens he got to know over the span of a year, who stabbed him in the back with his own blade.

So he told himself that he'd never get attached again.

And then came another.

Ranboo.

At first, the quiet half-enderman talked little, and interacted with him even less so.

But soon, he started warming up to the half-piglin.

Then, during a long journey, the two found that they had similar personalities, and a similar sense of humor.

He got attached again.

So far, he hasn't done anything to explicitly betray him.

Not that he knew of, at least.
