everything was so beautiful.. the horse me and him rode together galloped beneath us as the sounds of hooves hitting the ground brought me a sense of relief

a sense of relief that we were alive and escaped with nothing but each other

george and i had switched positions on the stallion because my hand began to hurt
but he didn't mind
my arms wrap around him as my chin rests on his shoulder
he turns his head to look at me and gives me a small pec on my lips— and places his forehead onto mine before looking back at the land in front of us

a giddy smile spreads across my face as my cheeks grew hot with happy embarrassment
the both of us looked forward and could see our home in the distance

my heart pumped with excitement— remembering my friends who were eagerly awaiting for me to come home

nick karl and wilbur helped the townspeople with their houses and shelters
all three of them walked back towards the castles walls entrance after they got done

karl looking down and rubbing his shoulder in sadness
" we should've followed him.. "

nick stops in his tracks, so did karl and wilbur as they look at their trembling friend
the black haired male squats down and hides his face in his knees— his hands ruffling through his hair, gripping it after

wilbur cocks his eyebrow up in confusion as he looks at karl
the both of them now hearing our friend sniffling and letting put small hics
" nick?" karls hand placed on his shoulder

after a bit— nick looks up at them and our two friends cried as they saw nicks tear stained face
"george will bring him back nick.. don't worry "
wilbur reassures him

all of them hugged one another and shared some sobs—
after a while.. they all stood up and began to walk in the direction of the castle

shoes crunching the rocks beneath their feet as the sun continued to set
the three boys finally making it to the entrance that was closed—
wilbur walks beside the entrance and pulls a lever as the sound of chains slowly let the giant wooden door down

and in that moment— i knew exactly what true relief felt like
when their faces lit up at the sight of me on the horse with george holding the bridle that was attached to the harness

"Clay!" they all exclaimed as they began to run towards me
george helps me off the stallion as i began to limp towards them
i didn't even care how much it hurt when they finally reached me and hugged me—
our tears mixed with nick apologizing profusely
which made me laugh a bit along with the sobs
