love.

it was a concept engraved in the minds of people at a fairly young age. whether it'd be platonic love or romantic love, you never really understood it.

when it came to romance in movies, the main character and the love interest always had it easy- a few bumps in the road and then BOOM! a perfect married couple, with a perfect family, with a perfect kiss, a perfect ending, and a perfect happy life. but what you couldn't grasp is why they never showed the "happy" couple's errors- the fighting and arguing that is. i mean every couple was flawed in a way, whether it was small arguments here and there or maybe promiscuous affairs.

growing up you pledged not to fall in love. you never wanted to love if it was going to be as painful as seeing your parents "in love". your mom was always away getting drunk at bars or clubs coming home with love bites all over her neck or with a different man, whilst your dad jumping at any job opportunity trying to support the three of you, resulting in nights where you had to endure the fighting and shouting using music as a way to escape and cope with the chaos.

you were only ten.

but yet here you are, nineteen years old, finding yourself at the rooftop of your shared apartment with your three best friends, confessing to one of them. your best friend of seven years.
