He holds her tightly tonight as they both lie awake in each other's embrace. For the first time, she lays her head against his chest instead of the pillow beside him as his fingers lock around hers. He traces her fingers in the air, feeling her shiver against him when his fingertips press against her knuckles.

The blindfold still lies over her eyes. It's such a different feeling against his chest compared to her skin. One is rough and itchy while the other is smooth and naturally slides against him. The only time she has taken it off was that one night when she cried in his arms: neither has said a word about it.

He knows he shouldn't have listened, but he can't get her anger-filled conversation with Ahsoka out of his head. While he understands that she might be upset, it bothers him to know that if she knew who Grogu was, he would never have met her. She is too important for him to have never met.

"What happened?" He asks before he can stop himself. His fingers still trace hers, but her body tenses beside him. "I mean—"

"You heard, huh?" She bites her lips. "What Ahsoka and I said that first night?"

Reluctantly, he nods. "I did."

"No one likes an eavesdropper," she chuckles, though she lacks her usual smile. He purses his lips and looks down as that laugh fades away. "It's complicated."

"You don't have to say anything." Clenching his jaw, he looks back at their intermingled hands.

He does not expect her to speak.

"The first thing I remember is this bright blue color," she whispers as her hand tightens around his. "I remember screaming and children who I know were my friends flopping on the ground. I don't know if he let me live or if he was too unfocused to notice me, but I was still alive when he left.

"I remember crawling out of the small compartment and stepping over the bodies. I still wasn't completely stable with walking yet, especially when I was terrified, so it was difficult but I managed to get through the temple to the exit, but there were clones waiting, so I went back to go hide again.

"It took a day for someone to find me." She purses her lips and snuggles her head into his chest a bit, her hair tickling his arm. "I hid in the security room and found some spare sabers to protect myself, I think, but I couldn't fully...I couldn't hold it up right, my hands were too small."

"You do have small hands," Mando says with a small smile.

"Shut up," she laughs as she shoves his ribs. "Anyway, I remember hearing voices and seeing colors. There were clones yelling a-and blues and greens. When Master Yoda finally found me and helped me out, the clones were dead, leaving just us: me, Master Yoda, and Master Kenobi, who I don't remember at all but I know he was there.
