Madison
Midnight

"Hit this, ma." Gi's deep voice spoke as we laid in my bed, reminiscing on today's events.

Staying silent, I lifted my head from the crook of his neck and let him put the blunt to my lips. I inhaled sharply, knowing this was not my thing before he pulled the blunt away and I began coughing rapidly.

"Damn." He softly patted my back.

"You aight?" He chuckled lightly as I got myself under control, nodding my head.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I answered, laying back down as sleep began taking over.

"My baby's a rookie." I heard him say but I didn't even respond.

I was exhausted from today and I just wanted to relax with him. And though I was falling asleep at the moment, my mind still ran a mile a minute. I couldn't get Mateo dragging Izzy down a flight of stairs out of my head.

"Babe-" I started but stopped, whispering into his ear.

"What's wrong?" He asked as I slowly lifted my head again, looking into his eyes now.

"Do you think what Mateo did today was okay?"

"Like would you ever do that to me?" I couldn't help but to ask, glancing over at his gun that was sitting on the nightstand.

I knew it was stupid to ask but I was questioning everything in this moment because I was nervous for my future. Izzy and Mateo had been together years and I'd never seen him do her like that. But he'd turned around and did it, so it was making me cautious.

Simply because Mateo was an influential person in Gio's life.

So would he ever put hands on me if I said the wrong thing like his brother did to her? I just wanted to know.

"What?" He asked, turning his lip up.

"Ma, come on. Don't start-"

"I'm not saying that you would, Gi." I clarified before I began to explain myself.

"I just need to know your feelings on it because I'm kind of freaked out by it." I admitted vulnerably, considering he didn't seem that upset when his brother did her like that.

He just wanted to leave.

He didn't say anything in the car and it was like he just agreed with what was happening because of what Izzy said.

"Do you think it's okay for him to do that because of what she said to him-"

"Aight.." He trailed off, cutting me off completely as he sat up in the bed and looked deeply into my eyes.

"First, get out yo' head because I ain't never been that type nigga and you know that." He spoke calmly to me as I looked at him with concern in my eyes.

"I ain't never been that type nigga and I ain't never gon' be the type nigga to put hands on a female."

"Especially not you, Madison." He spat sternly.

"And I ain't even gon' get mad at you for askin' because I know that shit probably scared yo' scary ass but come on now, ma."

"You know your man and you know I'd never do or agree with no shit like that."

"My older brother or not." He expressed himself and I nodded understandingly, laying my head back down.

"Nah, look at me." He made me get up again and pulled me toward him.

"I would never put my hands on you, you hear me?" He spoke seriously, looking into my eyes.

"Never." He held his hand out for me and pulled me into his lap, looking up into my eyes now.
