Chapter 4 - New Recruits

April, 845

Survey Corps Headquarters (Inside Wall Maria)

Third POV

After meeting Commander Erwin, (Y/N) decided to stay at the Survey Corps HQ to begin training. Since she was recruited directly into the scouts, she was able to pass the required basic training that normally takes three years. In fact, (Y/N) excelled in ODM gear and hand to hand combat so much, she gave her instructors tips. However, she's still technically cadet, and has to spend time learning about the three walls and excursions, as well as medic training.

Throughout her months at the Corps, (Y/N) became very close with Erwin. Nothing romantically happened between them, they just enjoyed each others company. She also developed a close friend, a crazy brown haired researcher named Captain Hange Zoe. Hange was also a decent medic, so they would spend hours together talking about wounds they've seen, or different medicinal plants.

The one issue with being directly admitted into the Survey Corps is that all the regular cadets were not fond of her. She didn't go through the three years of training they did, so she didn't have time to form a bond with any of them. They also thought she was the teacher's pet, being so close with the Commander and a Captain. (Y/N) didn't mind though, she actually preferred being a lone wolf, it helped keep her secret.

(Y/N) was studying about different formations when someone bust through her door.

"Hello my dear (Y/N)! Erwin and the others just got back with the new recruits, everyone is to meet in the courtyard" Hange exclaimed.

"Ughhhh, aren't these the petty thieves from the Underground? How come Erwin's so interested in them?" (Y/N) groaned at the thought of dealing with these kids, she lived in the Underground for a couple months when she was 18 to carry out a mission. She learned the types of people that lived there. However, she understood the only way to get by was to steal or run a gang.

"Who knows, according to Erwin they're exceptionally good at using ODM gear and evading."

"Well I guess we're just gonna have to find out, huh?"

Hange and (Y/N) walked out to the courtyard and lined up in their respective squads, with the captains in the front. (Y/N) was under Mike's squad, they all got along pretty well, except Mike could be a hardass sometimes.

Erwin's voice boomed across the row of scouts, "We have some new members joining us today, please introduce yourselves."

The one standing in the middle with his arms across his chest rolled his eyes and in a monotoned voice he answered "Levi."

Mike gasped, "Hey! Anyone teach you manners or respect? Also, you salute when a superior talks to you."

The black haired man just stared a Mike, making a "Tch" sound. Which made Mike even more furious. (Y/N), Mike's second-in command, put a hand on his shoulder to calm him down. Even though (Y/N) is technically a cadet, she proved exceptionally well on her first expedition a few months back. She saved two squad members by slicing the napes of two titans, using a spinning technique no one's seen before. By the end of the expedition, she killed ten titans and saved about six squad members from being eaten.

Mike groaned, already irritated. "Alright, whatever .... you" he pointed to Farlan, "what's your name?"

"Farlan Church, sir!" He ended by saluting with his hand over his heart. Mike nodded and then turned to the ginger haired girl.

"Isabel Magnolia, it's nice to meet you all!" she said waving.

Erwin turned to Mike, "Mike, these three will be joining your squad, you're responsible for them."
