Once hunger was my dance partner
He spun me round and round
He told me that he loved me
And that I should never frown

Once hunger was my dance partner
He and I would just hold hands
It always was enough for me
But he wanted to dance

Once hunger was my dance partner
We patrolled the world around
And once I said I wanted food
He gave me a big frown

Once hunger was my dance partner
I couldn't get away
I didn't want him in my head
But my head was where he stayed

Once hunger was my dance partner
He and I were in love
But once I realized how we were
I just said enough

It was a cold and gloomy day
And hunger came to play
I told him to leave me alone
But his grasp, that's what stayed

If hunger ever tries to come back
I will fight him twice as hard
I think I don't want to force myself to hunger
Not when he left me scars
