Twenty-eight

After another hour of waiting, the doors had finally opened. Leaving the grocery store was a miracle to say the least.
"this is hell" Iris muttered, staring out at the stormy weather, the power was still out in half the town, leaving us with the light of a pearly grey sky.
"at least we're out of the store" I attempted to be optimistic.
"true" Ollie acknowledged, "Vee you staying with us tonight?"
"yes" I nodded with no hesitation.
"im driving" Alex stated, "gimme the keys"
"why?" Ollie protested,
"Iris will crash us, and I don't want any of you driving us in this weather" as he spoke, lightning flashed the sky.
Ollie glanced at the storm, and back at Alex, "fine—iPad kid gets to drive"
"iPad kid is cool, and you aren't" he retorted as we speed-walked through the parking lot, it only took seconds for the group to get soaked under the pounding rain.
"f*cking hell" Iris breathed out, "I hate storms"
"oh really? I was under the impression that you loved them!" Alex replied, starting the car.
"one day you're going to be murdered, and I will get away with it" she warned.
"bet"

As soon as we walked into Ollie's house, she started rapidly testing the light switches, "woo we don't have electricity!" she cheered, her tone sweet with sarcasm.
"do you have candles?" Tommy asked,
"Oh do I have candles?" Ollie laughed to herself as she walked to a closet, pulling out a large box.
"Im guessing you have candles" I pondered as she started unloading many wax jars onto her living room coffee table.
"I always buy them, but im too scared to light any incase the house burns down" she explained,
"at least the house will smell nice" Ranboo smiled, starting to pick up different scents.
"which one shall we do first?" she held up two of the candles, "hibiscus or peppermint?"
"do hibiscus, and vanilla, so the scents blend together well" I suggest,
"woah" Iris mutters, "that's smart"
Ranboo nudged me playfully, "good idea Vee"

More lightning and thunder went on through the night. Every hour or so there'd be a good few seconds where the power came back on, but before we could even let out a sigh of relief, the weather caused the electricity to shut off.
a/n: istg I've rewritten this part 23 times *YES I COUNTED* it's very hard for me to write people being vulnerable so just bear with me 😃👍 (yes even small stuff is real hard)
Now, Tommy and Ranboo were sitting on the floor, throwing cheerios at each other in the dimly lit room, which smelt like hibiscus and vanilla.
"I wish these cheerios were shards of glass" Tommy flicked some of the cereal at Ranboo, who only laughed in response.
