Chapter 20

Viktor watched how they interacted and spoke to each other, like he was taking mental notes. He was unsure how to interact properly, they seemed to make fun of each other a lot, so perhaps he was on the right path with this whole friendship thing, but he also didn't really think so, he would have to ask.

Axle hummed a little and looked to Viktor

"See you tomorrow?" He asked, yawning a little and Viktor nodded gently

"If you come by, yes" Viktor said, nodding some

"You can at least pretend to be excited" Axle said and Viktor shook his head

"Nope" He said and led them out, Demi laughing softly as they walked out

"I'll join again soon" She said and Viktor nodded, giving a little wave and then shutting the door after they said their goodbyes

As Demi and Axle walked, Demi spoke up with a little smile

"I think he likes you" Demi said with a small hum

"Well, I would hope so, I'm trying to be his friend after all" Axle said and Demi shrugged

"I think it's working, he seemed... a lot nicer than expected" Demi stated "To me that is.. I didn't think he would take me being there so easily.. but it was nice"

"Yeah, that surprised me a bit too, but hey, glad it all worked out.. I am in a shit ton of pain, and will have multiple bruises, you got to meet Viktor and bond a bit.. it's a win" Axle stated and Demi giggled

"He really knows what he's doing.. I'm surprised you didn't die, or that you don't have anything broken, some of those hits were really hard"

"That last kick to the chest almost shattered my ribcage, I can tell, I should probably make sure to get that checked" He said and Demi shook her head

"You really should learn to not be so stubborn" Demi said with a little huff

"Hey.. I want to help as much as I possibly can.. and if getting my ass kicked until I can hold my ground is a way to go, then so be it... I don't wanna feel useless" Axle stated with a stretch, groaning a little in pain

"Whatever you say... As long as you stay alive and out of the hospital" Demi said and sighed softly, definitely worried with how injured Axle already seemed

"Look, Demi, I'll be fine.. I know when my body is reaching a certain point.. and as long as I don't piss off Viktor or he just doesn't hit me full force, I'll be ok, a few bruises isn't something to worry about"

"I know, I know, but accidents happen, it can easily be prevented if you don't do it" Demi stated, causing Axle to gently pat her on the head

"Yes, they do, but they're accidents... I'm not going to die, not by Viktor's hands, and hopefully not that other guy, as long as I keep going" Axle smiled a little "I got this.. don't worry"

This reassured Demi a bit. She smiled softly, nodding and just walking beside Axle the rest of the way to her place

"Go get some sleep, we'll do breakfast and then you've got a date" Axle spoke, giving her a gentle push

"Thanks, Axle.. I'll see you in the morning" Demi giggled softly and yawned, closing the door as Axle waved, walking to his place and going inside, yawning himself.

He realized he forgot his plates at Viktor's, but shrugged it off, he would be back and could grab the plates the next night.

He wandered up to his room and plopped onto his bed, groaning in pain. He didn't feel like changing, so he stayed in his clothes, falling asleep without a second thought.

Viktor was still up through the night like usual, debating on whether or not he thought he was doing pretty well with this friend thing and whether he liked it or not.

He couldn't say that he disliked Axle, in fact, he actually did enjoy Axle's company, at least more than he thought he would.

There was one thing bothering him though, he didn't want to really do this whole training thing, at least to the extent Axle wanted since it was weird trying to fight him when they were supposed to be friends and he really didn't want to hurt the other male, even just by accident.

He wanted to figure out a different solution and that's what he attempted to do, until he grew tired.

There wasn't much he could come up with actually, with Axle being human.

There were several limitations but he at least figured out a few things that would be useful, mostly just preparing things for safety reasons, and that could be done at any time.

Knowing Axle wanted to be useful in the actual fight, whenever that came around, actually frightened the vampire.

Viktor sighed, making his way to his room to lay down, noticing the sun was rising. He yawned, falling asleep soon enough and having a rather pleasant dream.

Axle woke up in the morning, tired, but also energized, noticing a text from Demi, who was on her way over.

He got up and got ready for the day, knowing after breakfast he would do his own training and then probably try and relax for the day, get his meals in and maybe try and visit Viktor earlier.

He sighed to himself, getting dressed, letting out little groans in pain depending on how he moved, but his ribs felt a lot better than before, and though he definitely had some bruising, it was far from as much as he thought by any means.

He hummed quietly and opened the door as Demi arrived

"Hey, you're actually up and ready to go!" Demi said with a laugh and motioned for Axle to come out

"Yeah, I know, weird huh?" He asked, walking out the house, making sure the door was locked and following Demi along, who was happily skipping down the sidewalk

"Excited for your date?" Axle asked with a chuckle

"Definitely.. it's going to be great!" Demi said happily and took hold of Axle's hands, pulling him along, Axle chuckling

"I know it will, just keep me posted, please" Axle said and Demi perked up

"I will, I will, don't worry" She giggled a little and hummed as they arrived at the cafe, Demi going to order as Axle went and sat down at their spot, waiting for Demi and just relaxing

"How are you feeling by the way?" Demi asked when she came over with their food

"Pretty good, not in as much pain as I thought" Axle chuckled some and started eating

"You're like a bottomless pit"

"It's cause I'm not eating as much as I should" Axle groaned

"I know, I know, but it's still fun to tease you" She laughed softly and smiled Axle rolled his eyes, chuckling some as he stuffed his face, finishing within minutes

"Did you breathe?" Demi asked, not even halfway through her food yet

"Uh... probably" Axle said and then came a hiccup. He hummed slightly, holding his breath to stop the hiccups from continuing and then slowly letting out the breath

"Good job, stupid" Demi said and Axle laughed

"That is the most lame thing you have ever called me" Axle said and Demi shrugged

"Still an insult" She stuck her tongue out at him and he just grinned, shaking his head gently.

Axle waited for Demi to finish her food before they both got up to leave

"Oh! You should help me choose between three outfits" Demi said and Axle shrugged

"Fine by me.. is Charles picking you up soon?" He asked and she nodded

"Yeah, at 10"

"So an hour?" Axle asked and Demi laughed

"Oh yeah, it's already 9 isn't it?" She said, smiling "Wait, that means I have to hurry! Let's go!"
