Thomas had insisted on carrying Seth despite her complaints, according to him it was so that the baby would get used to his presence and not because he believed her incapable of carrying him to the laboratories on her own. Hayleen thought about telling him that he, too, could walk alone but finally gave up when she had to accept that sooner or later her son was going to get tired if the place turned out to be too far away.

The laboratories were undoubtedly as guarded as the most important rooms. Inside one of them several people were wating for them, including the mother of Gally and a couple of others. They were all adults except for a blue-eyed, black-haired girl who must be roughly the same age as Thomas. It was more than obvious that she worked alongside the others in that room despite being only a teenager. It also turned out to be evident that she was one of her soulmate's friends because the moment she saw them her face lit up and she approached them with a smile.

-Tom! I can't believe you've finally found her!-she said enthusiastically; Lyn wondered if it was because of him or what it meant for the future-. It's nice to meet you, Hayleen -she added, smiling at her and Lyn returned the greeting shyly-. People haven't stopped talking all day about what happened at the party. Is this Seth? -she asked now, turning to Thomas again; she seemed to be looking at her son as if he were a talking scientific miracle.

-Yes, the son of the useless Gally -he confirmed in a venomous tone-. Angel, she is my best friend Teresa. You're going to see her a lot around here, she's just going to enter into the maze after I do it so she can accompany you as long as you want here when I 'm not there and she's not busy. Although we work a lot on the trials together, I am a lot more involved than she is, so you will probably find many moments to get to know her.

-There are also Aris and Raquel who are part of Group B and I am sure that Thomas will introduce them to you in a while. You will soon discover that there are not many young people in the complex and that we are not so bad - informed her smiling sweetly -. WICKED is good -she added.

-I'm sure she will continue thinking that I am a monster, Teresa. She is not wrong... but maybe you will change her opinion about some of those who live here sooner or later.

Teresa seemed to have blind trust in Thomas and WICKED, and Lyn was convinced she was one of those marked with a triangle on the back of her neck. Hayleen didn't know how well she could get along with someone like that, she could never trust her because Teresa was definitely against her. Surely she would throw herself in front of a bullet for her, so loyal was her, but she will never help her escape from CRUEL and, any suspect Hayleen will comment, Thomas would know. Their ideals were directed on opposite sides and the girl would never understand why what they were doing and the future they sought to create was wrong. Despite this, she would try to get along with Teresa; it was important that Teresa trust her if she was going to have all the tools available to escape and she supposed that, outside of the mark on her skin and her ideals, the young scientist couldn't be that bad.

-I'm sure we'll get along wonderfully. I could use someone to help me with Seth when Thomas and Ava are not there, maybe you could be his third babysitter? -she said jokingly although her voice trembled a bit from nerves.

-I can start now -she laughed-. I'll take him to the nurse to draw blood, don't worry about him.

The girl went with Seth a few feet further and, although Thomas led her to another doctor, Lyn did not lose sight of him in case he needed her. Unlike Seth who never seemed to care, she hated drawing blood. However, this time she did not suffer much from the pre-puncture because she was too busy controlling her son and distracted by the surge of pleasure she felt when Thomas put a hand on her thigh that bounced nervously.

As Seth went with Ava and Jansen, who had appeared a few minutes ago to find out the news, she was watching closely what the scientists were doing. After much analysis, they seemed to have finished all the biochemical process at the moment and they were watching the results of all the exams on the screen without stopping to let out gasps. Even Thomas had leaned across the table and scowled at all the information he saw.

-It's incredible -Teresa whispered.

-There was no doubt on my part. All this corroborates what we already knew was going to happen -Thomas informed the minister of WICKED; everyone in the organization used to avoid using the word "prophecy", after all many of them were scientists.

-It's still just as amazing, Tom -protested Teresa-. We compared the results of Hayleen with which we have registered of Thomas, Newt, Minho and Gally, and those of Seth with their parents. It is more than obvious that any child they have is going to be immune, the baby's genes seem just as strong as those of their parents. As for Hayleen, like her soulmates, she's genetically perfect, which is curious because they all have very different but equally exceptional genes. Although she is infertile, it is completely the opposite if she is matched with one of them. Seth is more than enough proof, but I would not be surprised to confirm a pregnancy in the next few weeks... I would say that this is certain to happen considering these results -she reported looking askance at Thomas.

-We have a lot of information about what their genes are like but we need to know in depth the lethal zone to obtain more information. It is important to determine how that part of the brain behaves when they are together and when they are not. It is need to implement several variables to see their reactions to different situations. We still have two that have not known her, we will be able to get a lot of data from that fact too -said one of the scientists.

-Perhaps some of this will lead to a cure for many of us... or for those who we will decide to save. The most important is that we are closer than ever with her here, with us -Jansen said.

-The most substantial thing is that the trials will now be more realistic and we will obtain better results with her within the maze. If we want to be really prepared to create a new world and be the leaders of tomorrow then we need the trials to be carried out with all its protagonists... and now we can do it-said Thomas smiling at Hayleen who seemed to want to set the place on fire.

-They will come out more than prepared -Ava declared-. We will confirm the loyalty and usefulness of the marked children, and those who are not prepared for the role that destiny gave them will succumb in the maze just as the weak without marking have been doing all this time.
