from the child that
was never loved.

we were children running
where the asteroids would stray,
and we sat on the rooftop for days,
when the nights would come,
i'd stretch my short hands to the sky,
i could almost pretend that
you and orion were mine.

i remember it all so well,
you were wearing your
favorite cross-stitched dress,
the kids on the block picked
on you because they only wanted someone to fight with,
and i always made them
pay for what they said,
can friendships, a lot like love,
ever be one sided?

cycling past open grass fields in june,
quiet walking by the shorelines on the beach for many summer afternoons,
when you finally thought
you had enough of me,
like cars passing by a lonely sea,
can life, a lot like dreams,
ever be not as it seemed?

it was a bane to my childish heart
that moment in time when
you said you were moving away,
it was sundown, i was walking my cycle home now, thinking about all the strange things i had felt lately,
how's a child to know about a
slow coming tragedy?

it would be years later,
when i would stumble into stranger,
when i lifted my head to see you looking at me instead, i froze,
hurt was like the waves
greeting my shore,
it would be years later
when i would hit the high road,
a melancholic memory
running away from me, so slow.

A/N : this is the first part of ravings of a madwoman, where she's just a child who lost her friend.

sometimes in life, we lose people who are close to us. sometimes, they don't understand us. and sometimes, it's just the fact that you're the only one trying to make amends which hurts the most.

thank you for reading, i know it's not sunday but i hope you enjoyed reading anyways. ♡
