chapter fourteen:
harvest?
┗━━━━━━━━━━┛

"SO YOU HAVE STOLEN THE REMAINS OF THE VERY PERSON THAT DAVINA'S BEEN DRAWING FOR MONTHS. Would you care to explain this startling coincidence?" Elijah asked.

Klaus, Rebekah, Elijah, and Leviana were waiting on an answer. Although, Leviana knew the answer; Sophie was going to use Celeste's bones to make herself an elder and complete the harvest.

"I can't. I didn't even know who Celeste Dubois was until I—" Sophie was saying until Davina yelled, and the room started to shake.

Leviana groaned. She started coughing up blood and fell to her knees — again — her body was glowing a tint of red. Once the earthquake stopped, with the help of Klaus — of all people— Leviana slowly got up, her face was a lot paler than it already had been.

"Was that Davina?" Sophie asked.

"Who else would it be?" Leviana tried to have the same attitude she normally had, but the lack of blood in her system made that a lot more difficult.

"Charming little habit she's developed." Klaus said as he refilled his cup with more bourbon.

"And the earthquake I felt today?"

"Also Davina," Rebekah chimed in. "She's also taken to vomiting dirt and making my sister siphon a portion of the earthquake while making her vomit her last meal."

"You should be thankful, if I didn't siphon some of the magic then these earthquakes could be a lot worse." Leviana tried to joke, which also didn't work due to the lack of blood in her system.

"Oh. We have a huge problem. I thought that we had more time, but we need to complete the harvest now." Sophie said with determination in her voice.

"Said the desperate witch conveniently." Klaus deadpanned

"I'm serious. That earthquake you just felt...and siphoned was just a preview of the disaster movie that is about to hit us." Sophie stated.

"Why should we believe you?" Elijah said on behalf of the rest of the Originals in the room.

"You've met Davina, you know her story, for months now she's been holding all the power of the three girls sacrificed in the harvest ritual, a force that was meant to flow through her and back into the Earth. One person was never meant to hold that much power. It's tearing her and Leviana apart, and it will bring us down with it. The only difference is, Leviana and the rest of you will be alive after the disasters hit us, New Orleans won't."

"You've convinced my siblings. You have yet to convince us." Elijah said, referring to the completion of the harvest ritual.

"I must not be one of your siblings because I sure as hell do not accept this!" Leviana exclaimed. She starting drinking a blood bag in hopes of regaining her strength.

"We don't have time to waste. The first sign's already come and gone." Sophie said to Elijah.

"So fix her." Marcel demanded as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

"She can't be fixed." Sophie said, getting annoyed with Marcel. "She can't be saved. This will not stop at the earth sign, and if we wait it out, you immortals will be the only ones left to argue about it."

The shutters started opening and closing by themselves. The howling of the wind gave away the fact that the wind stage was starting. Sophie, Elijah, and Marcel were looking around, watching as anything light enough started moving by itself.

They pulled their attention to Leviana who — for the third time — started choking on her own blood while siphoning some of the wind impact. The chair she was sitting in was now blood red, along with the outfit she'd been wearing since the first earthquake.

The wind slowly started to come to its end as a result of Rebekah sedating Davina.

"You have got to be kidding me!" Leviana groaned.

"Convinced now?"

Marcel and Elijah shared a glance. Marcel's was worried for Davina after seeing the look in Elijah's eyes. Elijah's eyes showed uncertainty. He was uncertain about what to do, he didn't know if he should go through with the harvest, or if he should risk the city and the lives of everyone in it.

"We sedated her too heavily." Elijah stated.

"Well if this is her sedated, I'd hate to see him otherwise." Klaus mused. "We all agreed that Davina must be sacrificed. There's no need to let her blow the roof off our heads in the meantime."

"No way! You're not touching her!" Marcel yelled as he jumped off the balcony, ready for a fight. Once he landed he punched Klaus in the face.

Leviana was leaning over one of the balconies, watching as the scene below her unfolded into chaos.

"Okay. I'll let you have that one." Klaus said with a deeper voice than usual.

"Marcel, no one wishes to see Davina come to harm less than Leviana or myself, but there is no scenario here in which we simply wait this out. She's going to die." Elijah said as he held Marcel back.

"According to Sophie, the witch who screwed over everybody here." Marcel scoffed.

"She did, but, as much as I'd hate to admit it, she's right. Any witch with a functioning brain knows that." Leviana said as she walked down the stairs, all of the mens' eyes turned to her. "Think, Marcellus. The first sign is Earth, correct? Davina coughed up dirt. This sign is wind, I'm not exactly sure what will happen to her during this stage, but, the next stage is water. If I'm correct, Davina will start coughing up large sums of water as she did dirt."

"The harvest was working before it was stopped. If a nonbeliever like Sophie Devereaux can come to have faith that these girls will be resurrected, then I, also, am a believer." Elijah added on to Leviana's main point.

"I saved Davina from the harvest, and now you want me to just hand her over?" Marcel scoffed.

"Do you think I'm happy about this? If the witches complete the harvest, not only do they retain their power. We lose our weapon against them." Klaus said, he was only thinking about 'Davina the anti-magic weapon', not 'Davina the teenager with emotions'.

"Marcel." Leviana said in a soft tone. He redirected her attention to her. "Davina is my friend, I'm someone who she can talk to about supernatural things and vise-versa. I don't want to do this to her either, please believe that. But what would Davina want? I doubt she'd want to complete the harvest, but I do know she'd wouldn't want to take the whole city with her when she dies."

"I'm sorry, didn't you threaten her life a few weeks ago?" Marcel asked rhetorically. Leviana looked to the ground in shame.

Even though Marcel made it look like her speech had no effect on him, it did catch Marcel and her siblings off guard, mainly because she wasn't lying just to get him to cooperate, she was being genuine. She didn't want to use Davina for power, she didn't want to manipulate Marcel. She just wanted to convince him that he could trust her by giving him the one thing he wanted: the truth.
