Fifth Year:

After the boys went back to their own rooms, it was just me, Roxanne, and Alice again.

"I don't know about you two, but I'm tired. So, good night." I yawned and threw myself on my bed.

"Hey, uh, Lily?" I heard Roxanne.

"Mhm?"

"Can I ask you something before you sleep?"

I sat up on my bed and looked at her. "Sure, what's up?"

They took a few glances from each other. Well, that's a little concerning.

"I don't know how to ask this, but-" Alice continued the sentence for her.

"Do you like James?"

What?

"What?"

"We were... watching you for a few days now, and uh, it's like you two are in your own little world-" Alice started explaining.

I think my brain just stopped functioning.

I stared at both of my friends as they went on with explaining.

"So do you- by any chance- like him, maybe?"

"No." My voice came out rougher than I expected. I cleared my throat and smiled. "Good night."

Turning off the light without waiting for an answer, I closed my eyes and waited to fall asleep.

I don't like James. He is annoying, and mean, and weird.

And for the record, he is not even my type.

What is my type?

I don't know... probably the sarcastic best friend, who is just a side character, and somehow always ends up dead.

Yeah, that sounds right.

"Good morning, ladies. Good night sleep?" Teddy smiled as I sat next to him with a nod.

I certainly don't like him. Ridiculous.

"Morning." Fred sat next to me and I saw James sit next to Roxanne in front of us, with the corner of my eye.

We started eating our breakfast, Roxanne talking about today's lessons, Teddy talking about Slytherins school trip, and Fred going on and on about the quidditch match that is coming up.

I stayed quiet and ate my cereal. Nodded my head every time they turned their heads towards me.

"Well, Wood is extremely quiet today. The end of the world must be coming." James smiled at his own joke and I just took another spoon full of cereal.

I could feel Teddy staring at me but I didn't react.

James waved his hand in front of me. "No reaction? Really? Teddy check her temperature for me."

Teddy put his hand on my forehead and waited.

"She seems fine."

"That's weird. Lilyyy! Is anybody there?" I could see him grab his fork and put a sausage on it to throw it at me.

I used my wand to change his aim and it ended up hitting his own nose.

"Ow!"

Fred laughed and they continued their conversation.

I could feel James, trying to get attention from me, and of course, failing.

If I talk with him, people will think I like him. And I don't like him. We're not even friends. We just have the same friend group.
