My chain wraps around a vampire's neck as I leap across from one rooftop to another. Along the way, I pull the vampire so hard that it begins to go flying, and my chain quickly unravels itself to come back to me.
Andy, who was distracted trying to defend Lilly from a different vampire, quickly jumps over to join me in attacking the group ahead of us. We send them down to their knees with just a look, our hands extended toward two vampires running for us.
I'm not sure how we found ourselves in this predicament, only that now we can't get out and Eliza is down with only Tyler trying to heal her on a completely different rooftop. The attacking vampires have yet to notice them, which is lucky for us because we've already got our hands tied over here.
Lilly manages to snap the neck of a vamp before she jumps across to meet us, immediately leaning against Andy's front. We stare now at the darkness, waiting for another vampire to come, but none do. We aren't stupid enough to let our guards down, however, we hurry to make our way to Eliza.
Tyler's hand is pressed to her forehead, his eyes closed as he channels her energy in an attempt to heal her. Knowing that he will take too long, I place my hand on his clothed shoulder and push my own energy into him, and suddenly Eliza comes to life. The wound at her stomach closes up instantly, leaving only a hole in her shirt and drying blood.
"Holy-" She blinks herself awake. "I did not like that. Where are the vampires?"
"Incapacitated in some way," I reply, helping her to her feet by dragging her jacket. "It's gone eerily quiet, we're just waiting for something else to happen."
She brushes herself off as Andy runs around the rooftop in search of more bastards, but seems to come back empty handed. Lilly does the same with Tyler, and again they come back without anything. We're all puzzled, considering making a portal and escaping while we still have the chance.
But as Eliza is about to make the call, I hear one of the vampires we merely floored grunting. My eyes snap to them, only to catch onto a dozen other vamps creeping out of the shadows. We take up defensive stances staring at them, waiting for one to try to kill us. They're keeping their distance for the moment, hesitant themselves to start this battle up again.
"Do not attack unless they do," Eliza murmurs. "Got it?"
"Understood," we all say.
The vampires continue to close in on us without making any moves, and it's just as I catch sight of one flying so fast I can barely even see the blur that I feel my necklace giving me a shock. The vampire running for me never gets there, cut off by another blur coming from a different building. The figure collides with the vamp, sending both of them into the rooftop floor with one above the other. There's the sound of a snap, then the figure stands and looks briefly at us.
All I see is stunning blue eyes before the rest of the vampires begin to head for us. Several blurs come out from the shadows, blocking their path. There are a variety of hair colours and styles ahead of us, every vampire facing away to stand off to the enemy. I glance at Eliza, who's already motioning us away from the fight. Although no one understands what this clan is doing here, we also aren't complaining.
"Colby, this isn't your fight," an enemy vamp growls out, pacing back and forth without taking his eyes from the opposing vampire clan.
Colby's voice is as smooth and mouth-watering as it always has been. "It is. Back off or we destroy you all."
To my surprise, Silent Leader from the clan who faced off with Colby before shows up. I finally connect the dots between our current enemy and him, and realise we've been paying for our involvement in their battle the other day. He's looking particularly at me through the wall of vampires, angry.
