"What did he want to show you?" I asked, as Nex came around the corner.

He took my empty bowl and placed it into the sink, along with his mushy grey cheerios. "Was literally nothing. Needed help finding the clean towels." He said with a small shrug. "We can go for that walk now if you like."

"Um, ok." I took his hand and didn't press the issue.

We walked down the hallway leading to the front door hand in hand. When we got there he handed me my shoes, the ones that had been completely covered in blood and dirt. It looked as though he tried his best to scrub the shoes, but I could still see remnants of the kidnapping and torture.

I forced a smile as I pulled the shoes onto my feet, while he tied up the laces of his black sneakers. Nex took a key out of one of the pockets in his cargo pants and used it to unlock the front door. When the door opened I immediately took a few steps out and took deep breaths of the fresh air with my eyes closed and my head tilted slightly upward. It had felt like years since I had been outside and felt the sun shine down on me.

I looked around at my surroundings, as Nex closed the door behind him. There was a driveway quite similar to Black ski masks with two vehicles parked right in front. Trees lined the edge of the road and house.

"Where are you going?" Nex asked and placed a hand on my shoulder, stopping me.

I had been heading towards the back of the property. "For a walk?" My brows came together. "Wasn't that what we were doing?"

"How about we go this way?" He gestured in the opposite direction with a smile.

I opened my mouth to ask why we couldn't go the other way, but then quickly shut it and nodded. His smile grew as he led me through the woods.

I had no idea how long we walked for, but we were now standing in the kitchen. I watched him make scrambled eggs and thought back to the walk. We had aimlessly walked through the woods until night came and the woods turned dark and creepy. We had then basically raced each other back to the house, (Nex won of course) and now I was standing beside him with two plates. He placed the eggs onto both plates and then we ate them in awkward silence.

When I swallowed my last bite, I finally broke the silence with a yawn. "I'm tired." I got up to leave but then turned around to Nex. "Are you coming?"

"There's something I have to deal with first, but I'll be there in a little bit."

"Oh. Um... ok." I gave him a small smile, which I hoped would cover up the confusion and hurt, and then turned around towards the hallway.

I walked with my head down, looking at my bare feet, until I rammed into Matthias. I let out a small squeak and an apology, as I looked up to his face. I wish I had just passed him without looking up at him. He looked down at me with red hot anger plastered to his features.

Anger, hate, disgust. These things were thrown at me with just that one look. Without another glance my way, Matthias walked right by me and towards Nex, who was probably still in the kitchen.

I stood there slightly shaking, with tears threatening to spill from my eyes. What did I even do?
