I read a story once. It had this idea in it that I enjoyed.
I forgot about the story, but the idea stuck with me until I decided to write my own story.
Someone informed me that I had a story similar to something they had read before. I did some digging and found the story I formerly read, and remembered the story.
Big oof on my part.
I have commented to the author of that story. If they request, I'll be taking this story down. If they don't mind, I'll keep writing.
