My thoughts are like a mind field,
A ever growing maze.
Full of sunlight, and dark nights,
And memories that are a distant, unrecognizable haze.

Full of many questions,
Many of their answers I might never know.
Keeping up late at night,
They just seem to overflow.

Some thoughts dark as midnight,
Wondering how I got to where I am.
Looking at life from a different perspective,
It all seems like one big scam.

It's hard to believe how fast time has flew,
Right past us like dust on the wind.
How easily we forget the good things in our life,
Where we came from and where we've been.

There are things I've come to realize,
As I look over into the abyss inside my head.
And yet I smile, though it's a struggle,
Sometimes you wish that you were dead.

But the dead know nothing,
They cannot feel.
Nor experience the blessings,
My life will bring.

The battle scars on the inside and out,
Remind of why I fight,
For freedom, peace and hope,
I'm almost there, but not yet, not quite.

My mind is my strength, and my weakness,
Where I escape reality and dream.
Your wounds can either break you or make you stronger,
There is no in between.
