All the animals were invited to a banquet held by god, the rat tricked the cat saying that the banquet was a day later. The dove arrived at the banquet and noticed it was quieter than she thought it would be. The dove realised that the cat was not there because normally the cat would often attack the dove. Enjoying her peace she did not question it.
The next day she asked the cat why he did not go to the banquet. When she figured out that he had been tricked she decided to stay with the cat around new years. Because she stopped going to the feast she was not considered one of the 12 zodiac animals.
Because the dove was there for the first banquet, the ones cursed with it's spirit never lost control like the cat but in fear of scaring his only friend the cat never told the dove the truth about the juzu beads and his true form.
