Chapter 5 (Dream) ✔︎

the car ride to the school was silent, george had said no words to me the whole way back
it made the silence so loud and unbearable, i didn't want to turn on the radio in fear of him thinking that i didn't want to talk to him
because that's not the case

" george? " i finally muttered out
he doesn't look at me, instead responds with a small hum
" what did you mean?— " my grip on the steering wheel tightened as i breathed in and out
" what did you mean.. about now you see " why he doesn't want you?—
are you talking about sap— "

" yes.. i was— what of it "
he responds to me coldly, yet still avoiding my gaze

i wanted to just drop the conversation, but my mouth continued to speak
" if your going to respond to me like that— at least look me in the eye and say it to my face "
the same result was met— he still avoided looking at me but this time i noticed that he was shaking
"god if you're so angry with me than why even invite me.. i don't know why i even thought for a second you were trying to be nice and sincere "
i clicked my tongue in annoyance, and turned on the radio in response to his silence

we arrived at the school after a while, only to be met with sudden lightning flashing across the black night sky and sapnap waiting at the entrance of the school
" great.. first george, then rain and now my angry friend, just my luck" i thought to myself as i got out of georges— leaving him in the passenger seat alone and walked over to sapnap

" dude! where the hell have you been?! " he yells as we walk towards each other
before i answer he looks at my face and raises his hand to my cheek
" you literally have dirt on your face dream— here let me get it off "
he says as he proceeded to wipe my cheek with his own touch , his gaze meets mine as the rain begins to fall onto us— he stops and looks at me with a gentle smile

" thank you.. and i was just out with george— he invited me to hang out and— "

" wait— george invited YOU to hang out with him? after he gave you detention and threw water on you? and pretty much hated you on the spot? "
he responded with confusion, i looked at him and nodded

i noticed that he looked behind me right as i heard the door to his car open— i ignored it and rolled my eyes as i remembered the awful car ride back—
sapnap looks back at me after a bit
" well i'm confused— did you guys makeup? or did you get into a fight again? "

my gaze turned to him again, my brows furrowed in confusion
" wait— what makes you say that? " i responded— all while i heard the sound of another car door slam shut as the engine started up—
sapnap gives me the "what do you mean" look and points behind me right as i hear the sound of screeching tires on the road fade behind me

the sentence he says to me, made my heart stop—
as i had realized why george was avoiding my gaze the whole car ride and shaking like he was " angry"

i turned back to see the car was gone, along with my brunet roommate
without saying a word to sapnap— i quickly turned around and started running down the path that lead back to our dorm
all while the rain soaked my clothes and backpack, just like when i first arrived in london

" because george was crying when he got out of the car "

"GEORGE! "
my voice echos throughout my dorm as i burst through the door
rain.. dripping from my clothes—
my hair—
my skin—
tiny droplets landing onto the carpet as i walked into a loud but empty dorm apartment
" is he not here?.. "
