THE WORLD REVOLVES AROUND RUBY BRENNER — or at least, it did. The Spring Fling Queen of '83, Ruby's time as the ruler of Hawkins High School was cut short the second her friends caught her hanging out with Jonathan Byers. One second, she was on track to getting Snowflake Queen '83 (only one other girl has gotten both consecutively; and that was in the fifties) and the next, her friends were close to disowning her for 'dating' Byers. She had to ditch her best friend Steve to stay relevant. The only reason she's still on top is because she nabbed the school's new bad boy before anyone else. But, if she keeps this new boyfriend, and plays her cards right, she'll get this year's Snowflake Queen, and then Spring Fling...
It's annoying, really, because in all levels except social, the world does revolve around her. Like, seriously, it does. If it wasn't for her and her, uh, ability, the Demogorgon would've killed her friends last year. That's partly why she had to fall out with Steve — people start asking questions when they find out about her, and why's she got an X tattoo on her wrist. And as much as she loves him, she doesn't like to talk about what happened. She likes to ignore it and focus on the fact that she's the coolest.
