slow dancing during a thunderstorm

SOCCER PRACTICE IN THE rain was always fun. The cheer team just so happened to practice when we did, nobody was complaining. Especially me. However, practice was cut short because it was a thunderstorm.

I stayed back late because I normally cleaned up after everyone. Like: putting away the cones, rounding up the extra balls, make sure it was decent for the next day.

The cheerleaders were still packing up. I was in the middle of grabbing extra balls when I heard my name being called.

"Y/n!" I turned around to see Olivia standing in an oversized hoodie, that was now soaked. She was waving me over. Olivia was the cheer captain, and the girl everyone had a crush on. I ran over towards her.

"What's up, Rodrigo?"

"Miss me?" she smirked, leaning over the fence. I pecked her lips before she settled back on the other side of the fence. I nodded. "Do you need help?"

"If you want, there's just a couple balls and cones left," I said, looking in the direction of the stray balls. "Or we could play tag," I suggested with a smirk.

"Fine," she said, entering the field. "You're it!" she screamed, running away. "Try catching me, Y/l/n."

I chased after her. She wanted me to catch her. Right when I almost had her she sped up. "You're gonna get it, Olivia."

She giggled. I managed to grab her by the waist and she squealed. "Got you."

"You suck," she pouted. I kissed her sloppily on the corner of the mouth. Her lips curved upwards. "It's getting dark," she said softly.

"Wanna dance?"

"What?"

"Wanna dance."

"In the rain?"

"In the rain," I said. She smiled, moving out of my grasp. She positioned herself before offering her hand.  "Hold on," I said. I ran over towards my bag. I grabbed my headphones and phone. "Okay." I slowed down as soon as I got to her. She watched me curiously as I picked a song and handed her the other headphone.

"Wires, Y/n, seriously?"

"I'm old fashion, what can I say?" I smirked. I took her hand in mine, and place one hand on her waist. She placed a hand on my shoulder as the other held my hand. We danced for a while to a bunch of sad, sappy music. By the time it was dark, all we could see was lightning bolts. Her head rested on my chest as I held her.

"Y/n?"

"Yes?"

"I love you."

'I love you, too," I said, kissing the top of her head.

"I'm glad we're together."

"Me, too." I rested my head on top of hers.

We stayed like that for most of the night until the night guard shouted at us, then we bolted towards my car.
