William and (Y/N) are both adults and close in age, three year difference at most whether it be like 30-32, 20-21, 26-29, 40-40 etc etc is up to you and either one being the older/younger one.
Reader is gender-neutral as in the reader can apply their own gender to (y/n) or keep as it is if they're comfortable with it being gender-neutral. I used they/them pronouns for (y/n) but you can replace it with any pronouns you use if you want.
