My eyes still felt heavy as I opened them, reaching for my pocketwatch that laid on the bedside table. I rubbed my eyes, trying to focus, still sleepy and exhausted from the night before.

"Fuck" I whispered

It was 5 in the morning. I was an hour behind schedule. My dreams of Miche's lips against mine filled my head all night. I could still feel his hands on my body as I got dressed, trying my best to hurry and catch up with my chores.

After 45 minutes, I was in the kitchen trying my best to catch up on the laundry that needed to be done before Hange came back. From what Erwin told me that morning, the Captain was coming in as well. He did say the Captain liked his room extra clean. I'm guessing that's the clean freak Nanaba had told me about.

As wrung out the clothes, I heard the kitchen doors swing open. It was Nanaba.

"Hi" I said cheerfully as she walked closer to me

"It's offically been two weeks since you joined us" Nanaba said as she touched my shoulder "how has it been so far?"

"Pretty good so far" I giggled

She was close to me, so much so I could smell her. She smelt kind of like fruits; sweet just like she was. I liked it. I looked her in the eyes, she looking into mine. They were a lighter blue than Erwin's and yet had me hypnotized.

Before we could get too caught in each other's eyes, we both looked away at the same time, Nanaba clearing her throat before she spoke.

"So" she continued as she rubbed the back of her neck "Hange and the others are returning today"

"I heard. Speaking of-" I turned to Nanaba as I continued folding the wet sheets "where exactly did they go?"

"To the old HQ. The commander said they already learned what they needed to so Hange escorted them to where the Captain was so he could train them"

Nanaba leaned in closer to me, as if trying not to be heard by others

"Between you and me" She whispered "The commander is launching a new formation, which is what the cadets where learning here. Miche doesn't know why we're planning an expedition so soon but we just have to follow orders. We'll be leaving in two weeks"

"Expedition" I repeated, remembering the paper Erwin showed me yesterday afternoon

"Don't tell anyone, okay" Nanaba smiled as she rubbed my back, making me feel flush "I trust you enough to tell you this"

"I won't say a word" I smiled at her, then began to blush, she doing the same

"Well" she cleared her throat once more "I better leave you to your work"

"Of course" I slightly stuttered

Nanaba waved back at me before walking out the door. I sighed. She was really pretty and very kind. Made me feel... well, I wasn't too sure.

As usual, I went up to the roof and let the sheets dry on the line then back down to clean Hange's room and the Commander's office. Soon, it was close to lunch time. I hated that the new recruits would be eating the same old soup. I couldn't wait to see this garden Nanaba had told me about. I heard a commotion outside; they must have come back, so I hurried and got their food ready for them to serve.

After lunch, I got the now dry sheets from the roof and made the beds. As I was making Hange's bed, I heard them come in. I missed them, but I couldn't tell them that

"Mariana!" Hange exclaimed "Oh how I missed seeing your face"

"Well thank you, Hange" I said as I tucked the sheets into the corner of the mattress
