Ever since you shared the onigiri with Inumaki, the both of you started to meet up more often. Both in training and free time.

With Inumaki's experience and advice, you learnt how to be more flexible and unpredictable. Moreover, his strange language started to grow on you.

As time passed, you realized communicating with Inumaki grew a bit easier. He would type in the notes app on your phone if he had a handful to say. To your surprise, you appreciated his company.

Thanks to Inumaki's help, you'd made a lot of improvements. Time flew by so quick that it was only a few days before the exchange event.

However, you could tell that tension was growing thicker throughout the school. Despite the higher-ups and Gojo staying silent, you and the others already knew.

You'd heard about the murders from the trending news. Sometimes, you would ask yourself,

What if I was next?

Thus, you practiced. You practiced until even Maki was concerned, asking if you were tired. You needed to get the heavy burden off your chest. It felt unsettling, leaving you restless at night.

As usual, you woke up early and did your daily jog. However, since you had nothing to do, you decided to train some more. You brought along a clean towel with you, just like any other day.

Stretching your arms, you made your way to the training area. The dawn rays of sunlight cast a rosy hue across the field, shining softly and scattered across the grass.

The crimson sky had fluffy distant clouds that drifted lazily in the subtle breeze. You noticed specks of dust in front of you and yawned.

The field was empty, and you breathed in the fresh air. Suddenly, you heard some footsteps behind you.

You turned around, surprised to find Inumaki. You thought he was someone who'd take his time during his day off. Curious, you asked him,

"Bad dream?"

Sighing, he responded,

"Salmon."

You tried to get his mind off it and distract him,

"I'm going to practice a bit more. You wanna join?"

Inumaki's head perked up, looking at you. He beamed and nodded his head, approaching you.

Similar to Inumaki, you were just as physically capable as him. You both were nimble and quick on your feet, so every fight you shared wasn't one-sided.

You glanced at the towel you placed on the steps. An idea crossed your mind. Ripping it into half, Inumaki wondered what you were doing.

You tightly wrapped it around on your left arm, gesturing Inumaki to do the same.

"First to steal the other's cloth wins," You spoke.

Replying with a nod, you both walked in opposite directions. Once you were far away, you started counting down from 3 aloud.

As soon as you finished, Inumaki was already in front of you.

Startled, you immediately stepped back, maintaining distance.

Inumaki's endurance and mobility were admirable, and you knew well why he was a respectable sorcerer.

You both kept playing the game of cat and mice, ignoring the passing time. You were enjoying yourself, and you noticed that Inumaki was too.

You didn't have supernatural physical abilities, but you weren't also weak either. Both of you were on par with each other, competing on a fair level. To Inumaki, that was the best way of testing yourself.

However, you suddenly felt a wave of exhaustion. As soon as you tried to dodge Inumaki, you didn't notice a rock behind you.

You were careless, a result of overworking yourself.

You felt your right ankle twist, and you couldn't help but let out a gasp as you tripped.

You instantly felt the cold hard ground against your butt, slightly painful from your speed.

"Ow, ow," You muttered, grasping your ankle.

Inumaki immediately knelt, checking on you. He looked at your ankle. His eyes filled with concern and worry.

Suddenly, you leaned forward, stealing the piece of towel wrapped around his arm.

As you watched Inumaki, you noticed a few details. Furrowing his eyebrows, he seemed a bit lost on what to do. His violet eyes reflected the morning sunlight.

They reminded you of lavender. Inumaki's platinum-blonde hair was messy, evident that he had just recently woken up.

You chuckled as he noticed what happened, his face near yours.

"Don't let your guard down," You jokingly teased.

You gazed down at your ankle, wondering if you should go to the clinic. You glanced upwards,

"Should we go to the clinic? Hopefully, it's not that bad-" You abruptly stopped.

In front of you was a blushing Inumaki, his cheeks rosy and eyes stuck on you. Startled, you pulled your face away, eyes darting towards the lush grass below you. You noticed yourself growing red too.

Awkwardness enveloped you. A moment of silence stayed until you tugged at Inumaki's uniform sleeve. You finally asked him,

"Um, can you help accompany me to the clinic?"

Inumaki nodded, finally returning to his senses. As he helped you up, the tingling pain in your ankle felt uncomfortable. A sense of worry crept into you since you weren't sure if it would heal in time.

Holding onto his left arm, you struggled to get to the clinic. As you limped your way, the awkward silence was starting to suffocate you.

Thoughts clouded your head. More and more questions surfaced, yet no answers.

Lost in your thoughts, you felt a nudge.

Oh, we're here already, you thought as you entered the clinic.

Sitting down on the soft sheets of the bed, you thanked Inumaki. He replied with a smile and left.

Suddenly, the scene of Inumaki blushing replayed in your memories.

Could it be...? No, I'm overthinking.

You shook your head, clapping your cheeks loudly.

I wonder what Inumaki's doing.

You sighed, burying your face into your hands.

The room feels hot.
