The Missing Avatar

Chapter 14

Jinora took her seat next to Kai as Opal, Bolin, Mako and Wu watched Asami follow Korra out the lunchroom. Kuvira didn't know what was going on but she didn't like the look on Korra's face or how nervous Asami got hearing Korra's voice.

"Did they get in a argument?" Opal questioned earning shrugs and Mako said "they haven't spoken to each other all day"

Jinora was the only one that knows what's going on "don't worry about it, they're practically best friends" she said trying to wave it off. Kai had a feeling Jinora knew something, mostly because Korra's not the 'best friend' type.

Kuvira's eyes never left the direction Asami left, so Opal spoke up "You okay okay sis?"

"Yeah, I just have a weird feeling" Kuvira said looking down at her food that she wasn't even going to eat then back up the the lunchroom entrance. Wu and Mako's eyes met "she's jealous" they both said in sync

"Am not!"

"Please she's not even officially your girlfriend and you keep looking at the door like a puppy waiting for their owner to return" Wu pointed out earning a glare from the earth bender

Asami followed Korra away from the group, once they came to a complete stop Korra turned to face Asami who couldn't look into her blue eyes.

"Asami, can you look at me?" Korra's voice was smoother than normal, it was gentle. Asami hesitated then she looked down at the sapphire eyes covered in worry "what's going on with you?" Asami watched as Korra's tan lips moved over ever word she spoke, it was like she was being hypnotized.

Korra noticed how distracted Asami was, her heart fluttered seeing the way Asami looked at her, but she couldn't let it go the way she wants, "Is this about yesterday?" Korra said waking the girl up from her daze making her green eyes meet Korra's. "Look I get it, you're with Kuvira and want nothing more but a friendship with me and...I'm perfectly fine with that" Korra said holding a smile

Asami felt as if Korra took the words right out of her mouth but the last part kind of hurt. She looked at the smiling girl and couldn't help but smile herself. "I just don't want anything to be weird between us" Asami admitted "you're my best friend and I don't want that stupid kiss to ruin that"

"Hey, it's not ruining anything, we were having fun and it was... in the moment" Korra said a as she rubbed the back of her neck

"Exactly you understand it" Asami nervously chuckle "and I'm actually not with Kuvira, well not officially"

"Noted" Korra smirked

"W-what?!"

"I'm just fucking with you Sami" Korra laughed making Asami chuckle but realized she earned a new nickname.

"Aw you called me Sami" Asami smiled with a fake pout

"Do you want me to continue calling you Turbo?" Korra threatened

"No no, I like Sami better"

"Good, so Sami, are you going to tell me why on this super hot day you're wearing a hoodie and pants" Korra questioned

"....No reason" Asami smiled but Korra can tell she was hiding something but before she can continue questioning it her phone rang

Korra looked at the caller ID then looked back up at Asami "I got to take this but I'll see you in gym class" they said their goodbyes and Korra walked away putting the phone to her ear while Asami went back to her friends.

"What's up?" Korra said into the phone

"Korra I think I figured it out, I know how to unlock the Avatar state" Zaheer spoke in the other line "come straight home after school"
