the fact that katniss and peeta basically defied the gender norms of every book ever makes me so happy. like- katniss is the powerful, morally grey, violent, witty love interest with dark hair, tan skin, and light eyes (which also basically describes gale idk why y'all hate him so much) and peeta is the softer, wealthier, artistic main character, who has an intense moral compass but is still powerful in his own right. the only difference is that the story revolves around the "love interest" instead of the "main character" (even though katniss is the main character, you get what i mean). i mean, prim is pretty much the typical "main character" you would see in any book and she and peeta are so similar, which i believe is one of the main reasons he and katniss connected so much and why she felt comfortable around him when she couldn't trust anyone else, besides the bread.
