Cold winds whipped around Eliana and her robes flew with rage as the dark sky was noted. Eliana's left hand was clasped on her aching right hand as she tried to stop the pain. The thought of Umbridge catching her had driven Eliana to stand in the Forbidden Forrest with daring sounds echoing through the trees. A loud, deep almost roar left Eliana's throat as she raged at the thoughts in her mind. Memories from the day emerged and the joy that Fred and George's pranks had once given left Eliana as she recalled everything that had happened. Marietta had betrayed them and the jinx that Hermione had cast had at once elicited a smile from Eliana but Umbridge had managed to get under her skin once again.
A few hours earlier, Eliana found herself in a meeting with her Head of House who was sat at his desk, large books sat below him, in the corner was the unmistakable toad dressed in pink who always loomed in dark spaces. Ten detentions had been spent with Umbridge and Eliana's hand had stopped healing after the first one. It was bound to scar and she was sure that the quill was bewitched to keep wounds open for longer. The detention was something Eliana always managed to brush away, acting like what happened wasn't a big deal but Padma and Su had caught sight of the words, Eliana only got out of the conversation because it was her time for careers advice.
Professor Flitwick had started the meeting with careful words as he tried to avoid eliciting a response from Umbridge. Eliana could understand why, Harry had admitted to her what happened during his meeting with Professor McGonagall. Just as the meeting had gotten into full swing, Professor Flitwick accidentally stirred the toad into action. "Miss Abaza, what do you think you would like to do in the future?" Eliana smiled at the chance to address the subject with someone who could actually help her and not a group of fellow fifth-years.
"I want to be an Unspeakable. Charms is my favourite class and I have only ever achieved an O so I think that would be my best option. But, Defence Against the Dark Arts is both fascinating, normally, and exactly what I would like to do." Professor Flitwick smiled and nodded gently with what she had said, as his quill scratched along parchment.
"Well, you are certainly excellent in Charms but I think all of your professors would be proud if you worked in the same field as them. Becoming an Unspeakable isn't easy but with hard work and determination you could do it." Eliana felt her heart flutter at his words and the smile on her face showed it.
"Hem-hem." The unmistakable sound sent shivers down both of their spines and Eliana had to actively avoid sticking her middle finger up at her as the thought arose in her head. Just as Flitwick opened his mouth again, Umbridge made the same sound and Flitwick turned to her with a sour look on his face.
"Yes, Dolores?" The words sounded pained and Eliana tried not to say something she would regret later.
"I was wondering if you were going to mention two things, one, why this meeting was so delayed, and also why you think that it's appropriate to not correct Miss Abaza's belief that she could become an Unspeakable." Flitwick turned back to Eliana and only just managed to stop himself from rolling his eyes as he huffed.
"Miss Abaza, this meeting is so late because you were, somehow, missed off the list. I would like to apologise for this but I promise you one thing, if you put your mind to it, you could become the Minister of Magic because you are smart and kind, you are resourceful and you are strong-willed. Qualities that more people could do with in this world." Eliana didn't dare look at Umbridge as he spoke but Eliana found once again that a smile was developing at his words.
"Thank you, Professor. And, as kind as your words are, I don't want to be the Minister of Magic, I would prefer to be out there, working, not parading around with a bunch of brown nosers trying to befriend me." As soon as she had finished talking, Umbridge's pink face matched her jacket and Eliana suppressed a smile as her grades were glanced over by Professor Flitwick once again.
