The monsters never scared me,
For they were never under my bed.
No, the monsters that haunted me,
Were always in my head.
The monsters never scared me,
Even when they tried to force me into their dark schemes.
Till I could no longer discern,
My nightmares, from my dreams.
The monsters never scared me,
They scared everybody else.
For they could not see the monsters in me,
But they saw the shadow of my pretense.
The monsters never scared me,
Though they were unpredictable and hostile.
So I made sure to hide my broken soul,
behind a happy smile.
The monsters never scared me,
For the monsters would always be.
One with my heart and mind,
For the monster, was always me.
