...naked mole rat. Joe put her hands on her hips and raised an eyebrow.
“Hey it's just a stupid squirrel.”
“Naked mole rat, actually.”
Jo gave Asia an odd look, receiving a shrug.
{CONFESSIONAL START}
“Maybe it was dorky of me to correct Jo, but anyone with basic knowledge knows that squirrels aren't usually pink and furless.”
{CONFESSIONAL END}
Dakota fawned over the rat, Dawn gasping when it blinked sideways.
“What's wrong with it?”
“While we were gone, I rented the island out to a nice family-oriented bio-hazardous waste disposal company. Sweet people. But the waste is having a teensy bit of an impact on the flora and fauna.”
Asia's eyes widened when the rat opened its mouth to grab a passing butterfly with its sticky tongue. Dakota laughed and walked up to the mutant.
“Weird. I want one.”
As if it could understand her, the mole rat roared in Dakota's face and shot lightning out of its eyes?! If Asia's eyes got any wider, they would pop out of her head.
“Freaky...”
“You said it, sister.”
Chris laughed hysterically when Dakota screamed and ran into Sam's arms.
“Most danger ever! Now before we start our very first challenge of the season, let's give out some rewards. Asia, because you made it up here first- your team gets a trampoline!”
Asia smiled and fist-bumped the person closest to her (Mike).
“Sweet.”
“And the Rats get a hacksaw.”
Lightning laughed as Chef injured himself on the trampoline, his amusement turning into pain when the handle was thrown at his head (how that didn't maim him, Asia had no idea). Jo then laughed at Lightning, which was also cut short when the trampoline was thrown at her. Asia snickered at the two campers, Chef simply scowling at her since there was nothing left to throw.
“What do these items have to do with this bomb...?”
Mike gulped at the time bomb in Chris's hand and looked around.
“Ummm he won't really blow us up again, right?”
Instead of answering Mike's question, Chris cut to a commercial break. Asia tapped her foot as she waited for the break to be over. While she didn't think Chris would blow up a bunch of teenagers twice in the span of twenty minutes, she knew the explosive wasn't for show.
‘Come on, get on with the challenge already...’

After what seemed like forever, Chris ushered the teams to a clearing where two totem poles were suspended from seperate trees.
“Those are your team totems. You need to cut 'em down, get them in the river and ride them back to the camp ground. First team there gets their pick of the cabins. But hurry- the totems are rigged with bombs that will explode if you don't plant them in front of your cabin in seven minutes or less. Starting now!”
So apparently Chris was planning on blowing up a bunch of teenagers twice in the span of twenty minutes. Asia opened her mouth to say something but Jo had already climbed onto a rock.
“Okay, let's do this!”
Asia watched Jo jump onto the trampoline, launching herself into the river. She shook her head and then walked over so she could face her team.
“Well, thanks to Jo's demonstration, it's obvious we can't just jump all willy-nilly. We'll most likely have to angle the trampoline a certain way. I think the heaviest person should be the one to jump, because weight will help get the totem down in case we can't grab the axe.”
Liking Asia's initiative, the other Maggots began to ask around to see who was the heaviest out of all of them. Zoey looked Asia up and down.
“You're the tallest out of us. You jump.”
“Hey, tall doesn't equal heavy.”
Cameron walked over to the trampoline and began to inspect it.
“Considering their athleticism, I'm guessing Jo and Brick are the heaviest. If either of them jump onto the trampoline with a force of 500-”
Anne Maria pushed Cameron out of the way, declaring that she wanted to jump. He adjusted his glasses as she prepared to leap.
“But I calculated for Jo and Brick's weight!”
Anne Maria ignored Cameron and jumped onto the trampoline. She repeatedly hit herself on the bottom of the totem pole until Jo kicked the trampoline away. Asia slapped a hand over her mouth.
{CONFESSIONAL START}
“I couldn't laugh, because that would have made me seem like a jerk and I'm not trying to get voted off too early for being insensitive. But come on, it was funny.”
{CONFESSIONAL END}
Asia looked over at the other team. Lightning had managed to climb the tree while B was adjusting some kind of makeshift seesaw. She ushered Brick towards the rock, tapping her wrist.
“No wasting time, bomb, remember? Brick, get on the trampoline!”
Brick saluted Asia with a smile.
“Yes ma'am!”
