Chapter 49

Pranee wasn't sure to expect when Wipa invited the group to her home. A child with blue skin was not what she expected.

The kid stood in front of the home with wide black eyes. He had a little almost cat-like tail that waved side to side slowly. Pranee thought back to the story that Shashi had told her about Wipa. She glanced to them but their expression was stone cold and unreadable.

"Ah, Somchai, how have you been? Did mommy feed you lunch yet?" Wipa ruffled the kid's hair. He nodded sheepishly and stared at Pranee and the group.

"Hi." Pranee gave a friendly smile. "What's your name?"

He instantly ran behind Wipa and clung to her robes.

Wipa chuckled before ruffling his hair. "Ah, come on. Wai kru, wai kru. Be nice to our guests."

The kid pressed his hands together before giving a small bow. Pranee returned the gesture and looked to Wipa.

"He's a very shy boy. He doesn't talk to many people outside of the family too. His name is Somchai." Wipa looked down at Somchai. "Where's mom? Can you show me where she is?"

The kid nodded and grabbed Wipa's hand. The kid opened the front entrance and let out a small high-pitched shriek.

"Ai, Somchai! What did I tell you about shrieking like that? You're going to hurt your– Ah. It's you."

The woman sat in what seemed to be a chair with wheels attached to it. On the back of the chair, there was a staff strapped to it and Pranee instantly recognized this woman was also a wizard. Her hair was tightly wrapped into a bun and the kid instantly climbed onto the woman's lap.

"I've brought guests, I hope you don't mind. They need a place to stay for a few nights."

The woman was silent looked at the group. Somchai's eyes began to droop and Pranee could tell the kid was ready to sleep on his mother's lap right then and there. Chann could only laugh awkwardly while Tanet gave a polite bow.

"Sorry for the intrusion. We would really appreciate it if you allowed us to stay here for tonight."

"Anong, this is prince Tanet and his sister, princess Pranee." Wipa waved a hand to Pranee.

Pranee instinctively pressed her hands together before bowing her head. "Thank you for your hospitality."

Anong didn't look impressed. One of her hands was stroking Somchai's head while the other pointed to Shashi.

"Why does this one has such a sour expression?" Anong raised an eyebrow at Wipa.

Wipa shrugged. "They're still upset about the nights we spent together is all."

Pranee blinked. She turned her head towards Shashi and they averted their gaze.

"You two used to date?" She looked between Shashi and Wipa.

Shashi refused to look Pranee in the eye.

"I wouldn't say date. Had a little fun? Yes." Wipa waved a hand dismissively.

"A little? You stole my precious spell book collection and sold them to afford a ridiculous trip to the other side of the world."

"Hey, I have goals I want to achieve. You just happened to be a stepping stone. I feel really bad about that which is why I'm letting you and your group here stay here."

"They were in my father's family for several generations," Shashi snapped. "Being a house guest won't forgive that."

"Okay, that's enough. If you're staying in my home, I have a few rules. One, no fighting. If I have to put up with this woman here," Anong pointed at Wipa. "Then I have to expect you to tolerate being here too. Second, if you're staying here for free. You have to help me with chores."

"Yes, of course. It would only be right." Tanet spoke up and gave a look to the group.

"Fantastic. I'll need four people to help me weave baskets."
