One year later...

"I now pronounce you husband and wife."

The wedding guests erupt in cheers as Nikki kisses her husband. She's stunning in a lace, portrait back dress, and her dark hair is curled over her shoulder. Flowers adorn her head as the veil flutters down her back in the early autumn breeze.

Blake trades air kisses with her before the couple skips down the aisle, hand in hand. He follows a few steps before stopping at the front row where I'm waiting. He's wearing a black and silver vest over a creased white dress shirt, finished with an azure tie. If not for the people present, I'd tear off his clothes right now.

He plants a chaste kiss on my lips and loops his arm through mine, leading me behind the wedding party. "You look great," he whispers. "I don't suppose there's a chance we can sneak off halfway through the reception, is there?"

I giggle and swat his hand. "As the Man of Honor? No, someone will notice."

"The moment everyone hits the dance floor then," he says with conviction.

We've been together for a year now, and the sex hasn't gotten old. I feel closer than ever to him, and for the most part, we've been happy. Audrey has been kicked to the curb with a restraining order and Lizzie still isn't speaking to Blake, but we've managed to carve out a slice of bliss anyway.

As Nikki slides into a limo with her new husband, Blake leads me to his car. Once we're inside and he starts the engine, he slips his hand into mine and interlaces our fingers, brushing my knuckles with a kiss. "Do I tell you enough I love you?"

"Every day," I say with a wide grin. Then I lean over the middle divider and give him a real kiss now that we're out of sight for a moment. "I love you too."

And I do. No one has been more supportive, and because of his encouragement, my book is being published at the end of the year. Without him to quell my fears, my manuscript would still be in a file somewhere. It's through him that I'm able to be the best version of myself.

I owe Blake so much.

He hums for a second before a thoughtful expression crosses his features. His gaze is somewhat distant at first, but then he focuses on me. "So I was thinking about something, but I obviously didn't want to ask during Nikki's big moment."

Oh?

Okay, I'll bite. "What's up?"

He nibbles my ear first before sucking hard, and I gasp, unsure if I should smack him or crawl into his lap. Screw the outside world and public setting. "Hey now," I growl.

His chuckle is deep and throaty, filled with lust. Meanwhile, I'm sitting here, pantiless and suddenly wet. I'll kill him on sight if I have to explain wet stains on my dress.

He backs away just slightly and grins. "Getting you ready for later. But anyway, I was wondering if we should officially move in together. A lot of your stuff is already at my house, and all you'd need is your cat. I want us to share everything, including a home and a family."

Woah. My breath catches in my throat as my heart races. Living with Blake? Not that I mind, but this is like... serious. Me, the Plain Jane who is socially awkward, finally being accepted and loved. And I know without a doubt how deep his feelings run.

I'm having trouble believing it's real, that I'll wake up and it'll have been a dream. But I am awake, and he's here, asking us to live together.

Without hesitating, I move into him and cup his face as my lips clash against his. "Yes," I say in a muffled whisper. "I'd like that very much."

Placing his hand on my back, he draws me closer. His lips are hot and frantic, matching my erratic rhythm. He stops long enough to breathe, "I love you, Kelly. No matter what, I want to be where you are, share your joys and sorrows, and spend the rest of my life with you. Whether we're married or life partners, I don't care as long as you're with me."

I couldn't agree more. "Then let's make it official after the reception."

"Gladly, future Mrs Cole."

I snicker. While Cole is loads better than Wankum, it will take some getting used to for Cole to sound like it belongs with my name. But what's a name when I have everything I could ever want right here in front of me?

The reception momentarily forgotten, I take advantage of the sun visor blocking the windshield, hike my dress over my thighs, and climb over the center console until I'm settled directly in his lap. The party can wait a few minutes. This is my moment with Blake, with us tucked away in our own little world. In this moment, everything is perfect.

The End

So that's it! What did you think? I bet I totally psyched you out with the opening dialogue. 😂

I don't know if I was successful with the bad boy theme, but I do love satire, and I think this is a good portrayal of first impressions not always being correct.

Also, I realize people have questions about Val. However, there is a bonus chapter from her perspective if you're interested in reading more.

I enjoyed writing this and I really hope you all loved reading it. I'd love to hear your thoughts. And if you enjoyed this story, please don't forget to vote and tell your friends about this.

Love,
