a/n: sorry for a brief moment of disappearance, i got a little caught up in smthn 👮♂️👮♂️
y/n kept a tight hold onto techno, with her arms wrapped around his waist, and the gentle trotting of his horse below them. she shivered, the icy wind nipped at her exposed cheeks and she nuzzled into technos back. she was lucky he was basically a walking fireplace. the tall spruce trees leaned over their trail menacingly, nighttime was approaching swiftly.
"have you ever heard the legend of these woods?" techno grinned.
"no..." y/n mumbled.
"supposedly, they're cursed, and easy to get lost in" he whispered.
"cursed...?" y/n replied, "what do you mean cursed?"
"well, some people from towns nearby tell a tale of a wizard... he cursed these woods because they stole away his lover" he chuckled, "but i think it's bullshit, because this is where i found you" he smiled.
"really...?" she grinned, to which he replied with a nod.
"much further back however, we're deep south now" he mumbled. time ticked onward, and the sun fell low as the stars began to shine. crickets chirped from the trees, and fireflies buzzed around in the quiet air. y/n yawned, leaning her head onto technos back.
"are we going to stop somewhere to sleep...?" she mumbled.
"there's a cabin nearby, we'll stop for the night" he smiled, tugging at the horses reigns.
"how far away is l'manburg...?" she sighed.
"still a good while... it's a good thing quackity got back to us when he did though- there's a storm coming in" he grumbled. "but i think we'll pass it just in time"
----the cabin was quaint, its size was modest, but in size it lacked, it made up for with its welcoming atmosphere. techno hopped off the horse, tying the lead to the fence posts out front, and gently picking up the sleepy y/n. he sighed, pushing the cabin door open-
"hasn't changed much-" techno smiled.
"since when?" y/n mumbled,
"since me and wilbur stayed here..." he whispered, gently setting her down on the sofa.
"how long ago was that...?" she shivered.
"i don't even know... feels like centuries" he grumbled, lighting a match from his belt pocket and throwing it into the fireplace. he frowned, the warm glow from the fire shined onto the wooden furniture, illuminating memories along with it. he turned his focus to the messy desk sat in the corner; books, papers, feathered pens, and a pair of round glasses sat tenderly near the edge- dust covering the glass. he chuckled, picking up the frames.
"what are those?" y/n smiled.
"his glasses" techno mumbled with a grin. he picked up another artifact, a wooly blob of fabric, a hat. "oh my..."
"a hat?" she giggled.
"a hat indeed... i wonder-..." he trailed off, trudging down the hallway, then hurrying back with a large wooden object in his hands.
"what's that!?" y/n curled her lip.
"it's a guitar-!" he grinned, she tilted her head- "for music!"
"-right! music!"
"he played the guitar, and i would play the violin" techno smiled, gently setting the instrument down.
"that's the smaller one, with the bow, yes?"
"yes-" he set the glasses and the hat atop the fireplace. "we used to come out here so often... just to read, or for no reason at all" he chuckled.
"what happened to wilbur again?" y/n mumbled. technos smile faded,
"sometimes men can't handle things, and it consumes them" he sighed, sitting on the sofa, and running his hands through y/n's hair. "he was a good man, just too much to handle himself" he pursed his lips, tossing his weapon belt to the floor, and kicking off his muddy boots.
"he was your friend, wasn't he" y/n whispered,
"he was more than a friend..." techno frowned, rubbing her shoulder. "he was like a brother"
"a brother?"
"brothers are a strange thing... i remember one time, we stole phil's sword, and when we got caught, i blamed will- so naturally, will beat the shit out of me" he chuckled. "my nose was crooked", y/n grinned,
"that sounds awful!" she giggled,
"brothers have a way of being the meanest people on the planet, yet we still love them" he smiled.
"...i wonder if i have a brother" y/n mumbled.
"it's possible..." techno mumbled,
"do you think my family could be in l'manburg...? or- what's left of it...?", techno rubbed his eyes,
"i don't know" he grumbled, nuzzling his face into y/n's neck. she paused, biting the inside of her cheek. after the months growing close to him- after all the chipping away at brick walls, she could read techno; the way he furrowed his brows, and huffed after snarky comments, he was an awfully emotional person- he just didn't show it to many. she could tell his stance on this subject- she knew how protective he got, how possessive, and lonely.
"...even if i find them... i wont leave you" she whispered, rubbing circles into his shoulder with her thumb. he frowned, slithering his hands around her waist.
"you promise...?" his voice shook- she nodded, smiling at him comfortingly. "i'd hate to go back to that loneliness before you came along..." he added, "i couldn't do it, you're too addicting" techno sighed, running his hand up to her cheek, and placing a deep kiss onto her forehead.
