After having a long chat with my dad, I swiped the red icon, ending our call. Our conversation didn't involve much; it mostly has to do with me wondering if he's okay and him wondering if I was still alive after staying at the Peterson's house.

I'm glad I was able to clear that doubt for the hundredth time. The funny thing is, it wasn't even my first, fifth, or twelfth visit. No matter how much my dad trusts Zion, he still asks for my well-being. I couldn't blame him though. It was understandable.

I slipped my phone into the pocket of my black skirt before tilting in Dimitri's direction. I whispered almost inaudibly. "Tell me why you marked Hunter."

We sat in Zion's car while heading for school. Hunter and Zion lounged in the front seat while Dimitri and I stayed in the back. Dimitri normally calls shotgun so I had to forcibly drag his behind to the backseat to have a chat. He wasn't happy about it.

"Dimitri, are you listening to me?"

He laid back while swiping through his phone, completely ignoring my question.

I pinched him and he jumped. "Ow! Watch where you put those nails. They feel like claws."

I rose my fingers. "No. My nails are trimmed. Now answer the question."

I was trying my best to not scream. Hunter and Zion were probably talking brotherly stuff while I tried making my conversation with Dimitri look as discreet as possible.

"Why are you so worried? Do you care about Hunter that much?"

I scrunched my face. "No. Despite being a prick, he's Zion's brother. So I have to care." I shifted closer to him and pulled the best puppy eyes I could muster. "I also care about you. You're our closest friend and Zion trust you like a heartbeat."
