Sunday morning came and Elle sat in the great hall eating breakfast with Cedric, Ian, Dylan, and Luke at the Gryffindor table, talking about the upcoming Yule ball.

"So, Ian, who did you beg to go to the ball with you?" Dylan teased as Ian sent him an eye roll.

"I didn't have the beg, anyone, actually, I am going with a friend." Ian shrugged as Cedric sent him a look.

"What? I am! She's a friend!" Ian defended as Cedric let out a giggle causing Elle to turn and look at him.

"Do you know how it is?" Elle asked him as Cedric nodded with a grin.

"I do."

"Who is it?" Luke asked, now dying to know.

"Gigi." Ian told them as Dylan burst out laughing.

"Of course you take the one girl who would never be into you to the ball!" Dylan laughed out as Ian swatted him.

"Hey!" Ian yelled back.

"Ian has a crush on Gigi, it's not his fault." Cedric shrugged with a laugh.

"No, I don't." Ian blushed as Elle giggled at his red face.

"It's okay if you do Ian, just as long as you don't push it." Elle shrugged.

"We are literally just friends! And I know, and respect, that she likes girls. We actually have that in common." Ian huffed out before turning to look at Cedric, "Who are you going to take?"

"Actually, I was planning on also asking a friend." Cedric said, sending Ian a glare.

"Oh yeah, who?" Dylan asked him with a smirk as Elle turned to look at Cedric, her eyes accidentally trailed up the table to Fred and her heart sank. She would think every time she saw him it would get easier but it never did.

Elle and Fred made eye contact as she felt like time stopped as they couldn't help but stare at each other. Cedric brought her out of her trance when he called her name, causing her to turn to look at him, breaking eye contact with Fred.

"Hm?" Elle asked, looking at Cedric.

"I was, uh, wondering if you wanted to go to the Yule ball with me?... as friends." Cedric asked as her eyes went slightly wide, honestly not expecting him to ask her... but now she felt like an idiot for not expecting it as they had spent so much time together recently.

"Elle?" Cedric asked again, getting concerned as she had just spaced out on their conversation.

"Oh, uh, yeah! Of course... it'll be fun." Elle nodded at him as she watched him breathe a sigh of relief, wrapped one arm around her to bring her in for a side hug as she hugged him back, not daring to look back up the table as she could feel Fred's eyes staring at her, and she couldn't help but feel guilty that he just had to watch Elle agree to basically go on a date with someone else.

"Sounds good..." Cedric murmured out, glad that he had finally gotten the nerve to ask her, "Let me know what color dress you get and I'll get a tie to match."

"Will do!" Elle chirped, leaning into his side now wanting to avoid Fred's eyes as she and Luke shared an unsure look.

Later Sunday evening, after a long day of Elle hanging out with the three Hufflepuff boys before returning to her own dorm to get ready for bed, Ian, Dylan, and Cedric sat around the Hufflepuff common room chatting.

"You and Elle seem pretty chummy lately." Dylan said as Cedric shrugged.

"Yeah Cedric, I see you two all the time being very close... you even spend most nights in her dorm." Ian pointed out.
