Y/n's pov

"That keycard opens the door. But unfortunately the Russian with this keycard has a massive gun." Dustin was pacing in front of me as we were all sat in the back room of Scoops Ahoy. Steve and Robin sat across from each other in thought as Steve twirled his sailors hat around on his finger.

"Whatever's in that room, whatever's in those boxes, they really don't want anybody finding it." I concluded.

"But there's gotta be a way in." Robin muttered.

"Well, you know..." Steve stopped twirling his hat, quickly reshaping it with a puff of air before dropping it on the table and leaning in with a serious tone. "I could just take him out."

"Take... who out?" Robin blinked.

"The Russian guard." Steve answered quickly and obviously.

Robin leaned back in her seat, nodding sarcastically at him with wide eyes.

"What? I sneak up behind him, I knock him out and I take his keycard. It's easy." Steve scoffed.

"Did you not... hear the part about the massive gun?" Dustin asked, crossing his arms.

"Yes, Dustin. I did. And that's why I would be... sneaking." Steve snarked, imitating a person tip-toeing with his fingers.

"Ahh." Dustin nodded. "Well, please, tell me this, and be honest. Have you ever actually...won a fight?"

"OH-Kay, that was one time-" Steve protested.

"Twice. Jonathan. Year prior?" I reminded.

"Uh, listen, that doesn't count." Steve said.

"Why wouldn't it? Because it looks like he beat the shit out of you." Dustin said.

"It was-" Steve tried.

"You got a fat lip, crooked nose, swollen eye, a lot of blood." I said.

"...things all added up, yeah they sound bad, but..." Steve tried to reason.

All of a sudden, Robin flew out of the back room faster than we could blink.

The three of us scrambled to the window in a baffled frenzy, watching as Robin's hand dove into the tip jar.

"Robin?" Steve asked.

She didn't answer, and when she made a break for the exit, the three of us tumbled out of the back room.

"Hey, Robin! Hey, what-what are you doing?" Steve asked.

"I need cash." She explained, backing out of the shop.

"Well, half of that's mine." Steve protested. "Where are you going?"

"To find a way into that room, a safe way. And, in the meantime, sling ice cream, behave, and don't get beat up. Y/n's in charge." Robin answered Steve with an excited smirk. "I'll be back in a jiff!"

And, with a quick two finger salute to the three of us, she was out of the store and disappeared with the crowd, leaving the knuckle heads and I at home base.

Steve sighed from where we were standing behind the counter.

He looked to Dustin only to find him licking his ice cream scooper.

"Oh, dude." Steve scolded, yanking it out of his hands and returning it back to its holster with a twirl. "Come on, man, not my scooper."

Dustin and I returned to the back room and Steve washed the ice cream scooper off in the sink.

——

"Hey-what do you think you're doing?" Steve asked as I knocked the back door open and barged through.

"Getting a milkshake for Dustin and I." I shrugged, grabbing a cup and skipping over to the milkshake machine.

"Oh-kay." Steve said, turning back to help the customers he was currently serving.

I filled the cup up all the way and popped a lid on, sticking the straw in.

I walked back through the dense white doors and sat down at the table that Dustin and I occupied, sitting down and waiting for Robin's return.
