"You are massive now," observed Serronie as Zachary stepped from the bathroom. She sat her notebook down and her glasses followed. Serronie had to be sure her eyes were not playing tricks.
The burnt orange towel swagged perfectly around the toasty peach skin of his waist. His much defined "v" peeked out at both of his hip bones. A tantalizing aroma of his body wash fumigated the room along with his presence. He had Serronie’s full attention.
“Not the first time you’ve told me that,” he joked. Serronie narrowed her eyes and faked a pillow toss. Zachary barely even flinched. He looked down and grinned, "Ha, you're just now noticing?"
She smoothed her frizzy ringlets from her face. "You've looked so great since I got back, I just wasn't quite sure what it was," she replied. “You have always been gorgeous, but this is like some Greek God shit,” Serronie laughed disbelievingly.
He leaned against the wall and crossed his upper limbs. His buff arms curled snugly around the other. The water was still beaded down his hefty pecs and chiseled six-pack. At this point, he was basically posing. Yes, Serronie did feed his ego with her statement. He was letting his light shine.
"Well, this is how I spent my time missing you. I couldn't just sit around. That's not my style. Immediately after work, I’d just hit the gym, not like I had anything here to keep me occupied. I woke up, and didn’t see you, and I’d just start hitting push-ups. I’m not one for doing a lot of crying by myself, though I wanted to, but shit, I’d just work out to make that feeling go away. So all of this,” he highlighted his body with a sweep of his hands, “is essentially how much I missed your pretty little ass,” he finished with a grin, and held his bottom lip under his teeth.
She had to exhale. Zachary was looking like a tall cup of water on a hot sunny day. His smile was always a sure fire way to get Serronie stirred. "I thought about you so much baby. Every night, I’d stare out my window, and wonder if we were looking at the same thing. I knew you were going through it, because I know you. Now tell me, who knows you better than me," she bantered sweetly.
"Not a soul," he answered with a grin.
She sighed and looked down,"That smile of yours, still gets me." She covered her mouth and rested her cheek in her left hand.
"Everything about you, still gets me as well." He glared dotingly at her.
"It's really good to be back. This is what I needed, you, are exactly what I needed." Serronie was leaning towards his side of the bed before she knew it.
"I have to agree. I feel much better having you right here with me, and you can bet every light brown hair on your head that I'm going to look after you real good,” he assured her.
"I know you will baby, you always have,” Serronie added kindly.
He crooked his cheek in disagreement. "What was that look?" she queried.
Zachary showed some hesitation, but he admitted, "I coulda put a better foot forward.”
She wagged her finger in the air, "Na-ah! Nooo, don't even think I'm going to let you do that, not in front of me!"
He hunched his shoulders and lifted his palms. "I'm just being honest."
"I do always enjoy you being real with me Zack. You're finding fault, and it's not necessary. We have real big fish to fry, and I need you to stay outta the pan, “she asserted, admonishing him.
"I will, I will. But, things will be different, Ronnie. I'm gonna be down for you all the way. Your word is king from now on, I will never doubt your word again, you hear me?" he proclaimed.
Serronie agreed with him, "I do, Zack, I'm right there with you. Same here. We always must have each other's backs."
"Count on it," he agreed as he winked and turned to head in the bathroom. The towel dropped and he never ever missed a step. Serronie's eyes bucked. That was the first eyeful of Zachary she'd gotten since returning to Texas.
She slid down in bed and pulled the sheets over her shoulders. She decided to quit while she was ahead. If he caught her gawking, it may lead him into salacious ideas. Her last intention was to put those thoughts in his head. She couldn't go there yet.
