Amy was beyond angry. Why in the world would she wake up to find herself alone in the hotel room like she was some call girl? What was Bryan even thinking when he left her alone without any explanation? He didn't think it proper to at least wake her up and tell her why he had to leave. She had waited for his call or text all through the weekend, but got nothing. This is insulting.

Was he angry that she wanted to get herself involved in his business? But he was okay with it, so why the sudden change? She wondered, still staring at her phone.

Mandy stirred beside Amy, before grudgingly opening her eyes.

"Morning girlfriend" she mumbled, stretching herself awake.

Amy spent the entire weekend at Mandy's place because she knew she would encounter Bryan at her dad's place. With how livid she was at the time, she didn't think she would've been able to control herself.

"Good morning, sleepy head" Amy replied with no enthusiasm.

"Nothing yet?" Mandy asked, sitting up on the bed.

Too sad to reply, Amy shook her head. When Mandy noticed her best friend's eyes well up with tears, she immediately hugged her.

"Why won't he call?" Amy's voice cracked with emotion as she leaned against her best friend.

"You said it yourself. Maybe he had something important to attend to... Don't think about it too much. He'll give you a call when he's done" Mandy said hoping that would calm her friend.

"I deserve to know that, don't I? Amy finally gave in to her emotions, breaking down in tears.

"You do, but he may also have his reasons for not telling you"

"That's bullshit!" She sobbed, throwing her phone in anger. There was no excuse for Bryan's behavior.

Amy sobbed for over an hour until she fell asleep. When she woke up later in the afternoon, Mandy told her that her dad had called. He wanted to let her know that there will be a family dinner tonight, so she should be home before 8:00pm. Too tired to protest, Amy went into the bathroom to shower while Mandy picked out an outfit from her closet, for Amy to wear. She packed Amy's bag and took it to the backseat of her car.

When Amy was done showering, Mandy suggested that they have lunch at Macdonald's, her treat. She wanted them to eat out, so that Amy could get some fresh air as she didn't leave the bedroom since she got back from the hotel. After lunch, Mandy dropped Amy off at her place. She made sure Amy was in her bedroom before she said goodbye.

'This must be an important dinner' Mandy thought to herself as she noticed the maids setting up the table on her way out.

Amy was lying on her bed when her phone began to ring. Thinking it was Bryan, she hurriedly picked up the call, but was disappointed when she heard her mom's voice.

"Hey mom" she drily greeted.

"Honey, are you okay?" Paula worriedly asked, as she didn't like the sound of her daughter's voice.

"I'm fine, mom. It's just a cold" Amy lied because she didn't want her mom getting involved in her relationship.

"Have you taken anything?"

"Yes, mom"

"I'll see for myself when I arrive"

Paula's statement confused Amy. What does her mom mean by when she arrives? She can't remember her mom coming over to her dad's place since after their divorce.

"Mom, what do you mean? Are you coming over?" She asked to confirm if she understood her mom's statement.

"Yes. That's why I called. I wanted to ask you what big news your dad has to say"

"What?"

"Henry invited me over for dinner because he claims he has something to announce, and it has to do with you. So I was hoping you could fill me in with the details before I arrive"

Amy has no idea what her mom was talking about. It's not even her birthday, so what big news does her dad want to announce?

Does he want to hand over the company to her? But he promised he would give her some time before making her the CEO, and he never breaks his promise.

"Honey, are you still there?" Paula called back her attention.

"Mom, I have no clue what you're talking about"

"Wow! That's new... I guess I'll have to wait until dinner then"

"Yeah. I guess so" Amy mumbled in reply, still trying to figure out why her dad was inviting her mom over for dinner. When she couldn't come up with any conclusions, she gave up.

"How's Carl?" She asked of her brother instead, deciding not to dwell on the upcoming dinner.

"He's doing great. Over the last few days, he's been learning to ride his bicycle"

There was amusement in Paula's voice as she narrated how Carl has been relentlessly trying to ride his new bicycle.

"Really?... That's great. Is he alright? Hope he isn't hurt?"

Amy felt much better now she's talking about her little brother. It helps her forget about her worries.

"He's good. Just has little scratches here and there" her mom replied.

"Aww... My poor baby!" Amy cooed, feeling concerned about her cute brother.

"Don't worry about him. He's really getting the hang of it... At least he doesn't spend so much time on his video games anymore"

Amy could hear the relieve in her mom's voice. Her mom has always been against Carl playing video games because she wanted him to go out more and interact with his peers.

"That means you have me to thank for it" Amy joked, twirling the tip of her hair in her finger.

"Okay, okay. I will... Thanks sweetie"

"That's more I like it"

"I need to prepare dinner for Carl and Chris before coming over, so they don't chop my head off when I get back"

"Alright, mom. Bye" she chuckled and ended the call, lying back on the bed with a deep sigh.

Hours went by, and Amy didn't know that she had dozed off until she heard a light knock on her bedroom door.

"Come in" she lazily said, looking at the time. It was 7:50pm.

'How did she sleep that long?' she thought to herself, rubbing off the sleep from her eyes.

"Hey, princess" her dad's cheerful voice greeted. He poked his head inside the room.

"Hey dad" she replied, stifling a yawn.

Henry walked into the room, unbuttoning the first button on his shirt. It looks like he got back from the office not too long ago, as he was still on the clothes he wore to work, although his tie and jacket were off.

"I checked on you a while ago, you were sound asleep, so I decided not to bother you" he explained, sitting at the foot of her bed.

"Sorry about that"

"It's okay, love... Our guests will be here any minute, so go freshen up" Henry said and was about to stand up from the bed, but Amy stopped him.

"Guests?... Dad, what is this all about?" She confusedly asked.

"You'll find out soon enough" her dad wore a mischievous smirk she didn't like at all.

He gave her a peck on her forehead before leaving her bedroom.

She guess she will have to wait like everyone else, she concluded, before going into the bathroom to freshen up.
