every step taehyung took forward felt like a mile long walk.

its like a force is pulling him back, like a magnet, asking him to turn around and run back into his alphas arms.

but he just couldn't.

the sadness -its eating him alive, the regret, the pain -his tears are running dry now.

he slumped with every step, almost forgetting he has got company- it reminded to him only when they talk or hanjae try to touch him to which he hisses to the alphas face.

even when they travel through the unknown paths in wolf form, fur soaking wet in the rain, taehyung thinks of jungkook,

the numerous dreams they built together about their future,

every kiss they shared,

every touch of jungkook on his skin,

even the sweet nothings the alpha used to murmur to him- taehyung can still hear it.

his alpha might be hating him to his guts now, taehyung thinks.

taehyung doesn't think about his life ahead because he knows it will be nothing compared to the the months, almost an year that he had lived in that small village which had become his home.

he lost all of it.

but its for their own good, taehyung tells himself.

now its been almost three days since the journey started- the white wolf which smelled nothing but sadness and distress resting under a tree as rivulets of water slid down to the rosey pink patch of fur on its forehead from the leaves up above.

"you will be alright, taehyung. you will forget that alpha soon enough." hanjae says with a smile, extending an arm to pet taehyungs head but the omega averts, ignoring him, instead closing his eyes.

hanjae grits his teeth retracting his arm and glaring at the wolf with darkened eyes that blazed red on its periphery.

he stood up, walked few trees away to sit down next to hana who was sharpening her knifes.

"never thought my brother will fall in love with someone-" hana said, distaste laced in her voice as she worked on the knife.

hanjae laughed shaking his head, as he took out his own knifes from the satchel.

"honestly, i feel bad for taehyung and those villagers-" hana wiped away a drop of rain that fell on her nose.

"those villagers are just a bunch of fools-" hanjae laughs yet again, " -thinking we're some poor survivors at the first glance- just a bunch of foolish people-" the alpha mocks to hana's face.

"atleast it was fun to see them be so desperate to heal us" hanjae snickers, stacking the knifes which were of many shapes and size.

"but they were nice" hana frowns and the smile dissappears from the alphas face.

"nice? how bizarre-" the alpha smirks " -is this the same sister of mine who used to plunge her knifes into people in a blink?" hanjae tuts and the beta averts her gaze.

hana then leaned onto the bark of the tree behind her, eyes just aimlessly looking ahead at the pines which all looked the same and eerie.
she felt cold after a long time, could feel the hardness creeping into her heart after so long.

"atleast be nice to taehyung" the beta murmured, her gaze still ahead.

hanjae again laughs around the bottle from which he was drinking.

"my sister can't be this dense" he leans back with a mischievous grin.

"-what do you mean?" the beta turns her head to the alpha, eyebrows raised questioningly.

"sure that omega is fuckable-" hanjae licks his lips before taking a gaze at the white wolf dozzing off a few feets away,

"but you really thought, i worked that much to drag him away- to go all cross-eyed with love for him, like that alpha back in village used to do?" hanjae snorted at his sisters confused face.

"what else then? you were so adamant in seperating him from jungkook and dragging him with you to ulsan" hana growls, frustrated by her brothers riddles.

"my dear dumb little sister-" hanjae singsongs mockingly and hana narrows her eyes, "taehyung is the omega prince" the alpha smirks.

when hana's face remaines neutral, the alpha continued with a role of his eyes-
"do you even know how much reward the king of baekje has declared for whoever brings that omega back alive?"

the betas eyes widened a fraction, "you bastard-".

"oh dont act all saint now, my sister-" hanjae narrows his eyes warningly, "we could escape and live like nobles with those gold coins" hanjae states smugly.

"besides, they'll have our neck if we step back in ulsan again-"
"and we are a quarter of our way to baekje already. we are going to be hella rich in a day" hanjae laughs, sinister and dangerous.

"i dont like this- " hana shakes her head, standing up.

"i had to drag your sorry arse though the forest when ulsan guards were chasing us for robbing-" hanjae growls and hana cowers,
"you better not mess this up." the alpha warns, before walking past her to taehyung, to wake the wolf up to continue their journey.

the walk was resumed, taehyung now in his human form, clueless and shivering slightly in the cold, damp climate, hanjae walking alongside him as always and hana collecting dried woods on the way to make fire for the night.

as the darkness slowly started filling in the forest, the three travellers retired for the night, the beta roasting some birds in the fire hanjae made,
meanwhile taehyung just taking one bite out of it, before curling up near the warm fire pit to soothe his cold and tired body.

occasionally the tears would run down taehyungs pale cheeks on its own, as of its a coping mechanism for his heart when the sadness gets too much.

hanjae was as always a pro in his act, continuing with his sweet talkings to the omega which taehyung as always ignores; hana almost disgusted the way hanjae would not so discreetly run his eyes through taehyungs resting form.

soon the night progressed and the fire extinguished in the cold wind, it just blazing red coal now and close to its end.
taehyung had silently cried himself to sleep, and hanjae getting his share of rest dreaming about the riches he is going to buy and the omegas he'll have at his feet.

but hana was curled up on the dried leaves without a wink of sleep.
one of her petite hands, calloused by years of combat and fight was curled into a fist, which she opens from time to time.
it it was a bead necklace- the necklace, the first courting gift hwasa had given her a week back, which the beta had shamelessly accepted.
hana still treasures it and holds it dear, would count each of the beads on it during the travel- all 117 of them again and again.

as hours passed and the atmosphere got more cold, hana too succumbed to the sleep, lulled by the sound of night owls and the breeze tickling the canopy above them.

miles and miles away, distance enough worth of 3 days and 4 nights travel- in the tiny village among the dense forest surrounding it- the small sweet home was not as sweet as it used to be.

in the ruined nest on the bed that taehyung left behind, jungkook was wide awake; hollow eyes staring at the thatched ceiling, the same as he has been for the past three nights.

the room still smelled of sandalwood and cherry- such an odd mix that had soon started to smell like home.

but these days, it was just a constant reminder of  sorrow,

of lost love and many more.
