New Beginnings

Chapter 4

"Shopping for school supplies par-tay" Lorelai says as her and the twins go school supplies shopping.

"Nobody demanded that you come" Rory says. "Are you kidding? How often do you get to do things like this? I was thinking while we're going crazy we should get toilet paper and a plunger next" Lorelai says.

"We'll just do this later" Victoria says. "No I'm teasing" Lorelai says before turning back to Rory "Now get that list of yours" she tells her. "Okay, ahem. We need legal pads." Rory says.

"Got it" Lorelai says.

"Tons of pens" Rory continues reading. "Right" Lorelai says.

"Some number two pencils, three highlighters each, erasers, staple removers, and folders" Rory lists off. "Three highlighters each?" Victoria asks. "Yes" Rory says.

"Three?" Lorelai asks.

"Yes" Rory says again. "That's a very random number" Victoria says.

"Three is not a random number" Rory denies. "We know but we mean how did you get to the number three?" Lorelai asks. "One dries up, one gets lost, I have one left" Rory says.

"You've really thought this out" Victoria says.

"Yes I have" Rory says. "What came first the chicken or the egg?" Lorelai asks.

"Can we get back to the lost please" Rory asks. "Alright. Ooh hey legal pads" Lorelai says. "Nope those are purple" Rory says.

"Purple is festive" Victoria says.

"We can't have purple" Rory says to her sister. "Yes you can they're on sale" Lorelai says.

"We're going to a serious school, we need serious paper" Rory says. "Paper is paper" Victoria says. "Not at Chilton" Rory replies.

"I go to Chilton, I think paper is paper. Besides purple pops I don't wanna spend hours staring at boring paper" Victoria says.

"Well I do" Rory says. "Alright fine here's your serious paper" Victoria says grabbing the boring paper.

"Thank you" Rory says. "Ooh and here are your somber highlighters, your maudlin pencils, your manic depressive pens" Lorelai says. "Mom" Rory says.

"Now, these erasers are on lithium so they may seem cheerful but we actually caught them trying to shove themselves in the pencil sharpener earlier" Lorelai jokes.

"I'm going home" Rory says. "No wait we're gonna stage an intervention with the neon post it's and make them give up their wacky crazy ways" Victoria adds to her mother's joke.

"I'm going shopping alone for now on" Rory says.

Rory and Victoria get off the bus as school but Rory has to run back on to get more bags since she brought too much stuff.

"Hey, Mary!" Kaiden says running after Rory in the hall.

"And it just keeps getting better" Rory says already having a bad day. "Well you look sad" Kaiden says.

"I'm fine" Rory responds. "Bad grade?" Kaiden asks. "I have to go" Rory says.

"You know what, Mary I can't figure out why we're not friends. I think it's because I make you nervous" Kaiden says.

"I think it's because you can't learn my name" Rory replies. "Do you have a boyfriend?" Kaiden asks.

"None of your business" Rory tells him. "Is that a no?" he asks. "Is there no one else at this school you can bother?" Rory asks.
