"are you absolutely sure you want this house? i know it's my job to sell this place but there are plenty other properties tha-"

"i'll take it."

the man handed me a clipboard and a pen hesitantly. i signed my name at the bottom and handed it back to him.

"okay mr. hemmings, it's all yours. i'll be back within a week to make sure everything," he paused and looked out the window before looking back at me. "is going okay."

"thank you." i smiled. he sighed and gave me the house key, then left without another word.

i walked around a bit. two bedrooms one bath, it was perfect. at least to me it was. i don't understand why anyone wouldn't want to buy the place.

i started to unpack as someone knocked at the door making me groan. i know that other neighbors will want to get to know you and everything but friends were the last thing i wanted to make.

i opened the door to be greeted with the man that sold me the house. he didn't exactly tell me his name so "the man" would just have to do.

"yes?" i asked. just leave already.

"one more thing, if your neighbor," he paused motioning to the house next to me. i stuck my head out the door and raised an eyebrow. there was a giant nine foot fence surrounding the place so i didn't understand what the problem could possibly be. when i moved back he continued, sending a shiver down my spine as he spoke.

"-comes outside, don't leave your house."

i nodded and he left, leaving me speechless on my front porch.

i looked at the fence again, this time getting a long look at it. it seemed well taken care of, just a normal wooden fence, but at the same time it was just strange. i know people like privacy and all but was a nine foot tall fence really necessary?

i shrugged the thought off knowing it wasn't my place to judge and closed the door. i was fine, the man was probably just crazy,

i'll leave my house whenever i want.
