XXXI. \\ MOTH TO FLAME //
A few days passed by and there was excitement growing in the air at school with each passing day. As Rhydian, Jana, and Aden walked down the hallway, there were posters hung all around for the Lunar fair tomorrow night. The whole school was excited for the fair as well, and there was lots of talk about the auditions for the Lunar Queen, who would be singing the solo during the performance at the Lunar fair.
Jana frowned as she looked at the poster, "Humans celebrate the lunar eclipse too?"
"Apparently it's like a big party at the village square." Rhydian said, then sighed, "Too bad we can't go."
Jana looked at them with a raised eyebrow, "You two have never experienced an eclipse before, have you?"
Both Rhydian and Aden shook their heads. It would be the first eclipse for both of them since they had transformed for the first time. All Aden knew of it was what Emma and Daniel told her, as well as what Kai had told her from his experience of it.
"On an eclipse, Earth and moon are one," Jana explained, "So you know how when you wolf out, everything is just thrilling and you can feel everything humming, and colors are more vibrant and you can smell, like, everything? On an eclipse, it's like that, only more intense because you're human. Wolf on the inside, human on the outside."
Rhydian looked curious, "Human?"
Aden nodded, "Yeah during the eclipse, we're wolf on the inside but human on the outside."
"Really?" He smiled excitedly.
"It's amazing," Jana nodded, "You guys should spend the eclipse on the Moors with me."
Aden looked back at her, sighing, "We can't."
Rhydian frowned, "Why not?"
"We promised my parents, remember?" She reminded him.
His face fell as he realized that her parents wouldn't let them out for the eclipse. Emma and Daniel had already gone over the plans for them to spend it at the house, safe from anyone possibly finding out about them.
By that time, the three of them had walked into the auditorium where the auditions were being held in place of their regular class with Jeffries. And Aden noticed that Shannon was standing on the stage, looking absolutely terrified as the band finished setting up.
Maddy was standing towards the side of the room, and as they passed by her, Aden looked over at her in confusion.
